BAY CITY TOWERS-PENTHOUSE B/NIGHT
VICKY is still staring at REGINALD.
REGINALD
I know it's a shock, Victoria, but it IS me. I'm here and I'm
alive.
VICKY
How...you died....Michael SAW you die...
REGINALD
Ah, yes, the amazing Michael. Luckily, he neglected to see the
part where I survived the fall and spent months in a
rehabilitation institution.
VICKY
It's impossible...
REGINALD
Nothing is impossible, dear. After all, you and Jake are
together, aren't you? Congratulations on the twins.
VICKY
(placing her hand protectively over her stomach)
How long have you been here?
REGINALD
Long enough. I'm more than aware of your accident several weeks
ago. I'm aware of Marley's romance with a young judge. Your
mother's accident.
VICKY
So you've been in town quite awhile. How come none of us knew?
REGINALD
I didn't tell you. It's as simple as that.
VICKY
But why? Why wouldn't you?
REGINALD
Victoria...you forget that your mother and I share a
very...warped...history. I hardly think that she'd appreciate my
presence back in Bay City right now.
VICKY
So...why ARE you here?
REGINALD
It's not enough that I came to see you?
VICKY
(with a small smile)
No. I know there's something more.
REGINALD
You're very perceptive, Victoria. I'm here for another reason, a
very important reason.
VICKY
Which is...?
REGINALD
Have a seat, dear. I think you'll need to be seated.
Vicky sits and watches Reginald with anticipation as we:
CUT TO:
JAKE AND VICKY'S HOUSE/SAME NIGHT
JAKE descends the stairs, looking around for Vicky.
JAKE
Vick? The boys are asleep.
When Vicky doesn't answer, he looks in the kitchen.
JAKE (cont'd)
Vick?
He walks over to the coffee table, picking up the note Vicky left
for him. Opening it, he begins to read.
JAKE (cont'd)
'Jake...gone to see a friend, back soon. Don't wait up for me.
Love, Vicky.' Okay, what friend does she need to go see this late
at night?
Jake glances at the coffee table where he notices Vicky's cell
phone is still sitting.
JAKE (cont'd)
Dammit, Vick, so you don't even take this with you.
He reaches for the phone and dials.
JAKE (cont'd)
Carl? It's Jake. Is Vicky over there? No...everything's fine. She
just left a note that she was going to see a friend, but didn't
tell me where....I'm sure she'll be back soon, I just thought I'd
see if she'd gone to see you. Thanks, Carl....right...bye.
Jake hangs up and picks up Vicky's cell phone.
CUT TO:
BCUH NURSERY/SAME NIGHT
MORGAN leads LORNA into the nursery where Hayley's son is in a
smaller room off of the main nursery. As Lorna gazes at the baby,
her eyes fill with tears.
MORGAN
(smiling)
Go on. Pick him up.
Lorna glances at Morgan, then reaches out and lifts the baby from
the bassinet. Cradling him in her arms, she settles in the
rocking chair with him.
MORGAN
I'll give you some time with him.
LORNA
Thanks, Morgan. (She gives him a quiet smile as he leaves, then
looks down at the baby) Hi, little one. Look at you…you are
such a beautiful boy. I'm your Aunt Lorna. I know your mommy is
wishing she was the one holding you right now, but she's a little
sick. I don't want you to worry, though. She's going to be
holding you very, very soon. No matter what happens, little one,
you've got me, and Felicia, and your cousin Gabrielle. You're
always going to have a family.
The baby lets out a small cry, and she shushes him, rocking back
and forth. She begins singing softly, and slightly off-key to
him.
LORNA(cont'd)
"Catch me if you can, I've gotta get
Back to the house in Pooh Corner by one.
You will find there's so much to be done.
Count all the bees in the hive…
Chase all the clouds from the sky…"
As she sings to the baby, we:
