BULLET5.GIF (101 bytes) Connecting the Yamaha QS300 to a computer:

bullet

If you want to get the maximum from your QS300, you have no other choice but to connect it to a computer. How to do ?

bullet

It's very easy, provided you have a MIDI interface. Actually nowadays computers all do have a MIDI compatible interface embedded in the sound card. Actually it is possible that your computer/sound card manufacturer is calling the MIDI port "game port". It's the same thing. Buy (everywhere) a MIDI to game port cable (Yamaha does produce and distribute such cables, but are quite common) and connect it to the "game port" of your computer/sound card and to the other side to the MIDI IN and OUT of the QS300. Les joeux sons fait ! Your QS300 is wired to the computer.

bullet

Run your MIDI software (i.e. XG Gold, Cakewalk, Cubase, Logic Audio, or any other midi programme) and open the MIDI Set Up dialog. Set your MIDI connection to the proper IN and OUT and you're done, ready to record and listen back your music master piece !

bullet

A small trick: on the QS300 you should put the instrument in Local Off to avoid the echo.
