Use

Meaning

Each preposition has a single well defined meaning.

Il sekis su per sua kultelo.

He cut himself with (by means of) his knife.


Position

Prepositons always precede the noun, pronoun, infinitive, etc.

Prepositions may be prefixed to a verb to be modified by the verb. They do not change the object of the verb.
