Buddy was my confidant. I talked to him about anything and everything that was on my mind. This page was supposed to be a goodbye, but it turned into one last conversation...
* * * * *
Hi Buddy. It's been a while since I spoke to you last. Two years and six days to be exact. So much has happened since then. Let me fill you in. First of all, you just have to see Xator. He's 4 years old now, and a new dog! He's really calmed down a lot, which means he wouldn't annoy you as much as he used to if you were still here. (Well, at least not in the house.) You know what else...we're B.A.R.Fing now! That means Xator eats mostly raw meaty bones instead of that dry stuff you both used to get. Yum, right? I really wish you were here to try it. Xator loves it. Yes, XATOR loves it - Mr. 'I'm not eating that unless you eat it first' himself. So I know you would have loved it too.
Oh, guess what! They're making a dog run in flushing meadow park...finally! And I didn't even need to start that petition to get them to do it. I know you would have been estatic about that one. You would've gotten to run and romp with all the neighborhood dogs...legally. ;) And remember that dogswalk against cancer they have every year in the city? The one I always say I'm going to take you to? Well, we're finally going this year! No matter what. I'll makes sure Xator has twice the fun for you.
We got a new vet too. It's a little further away but I like her a lot better. And their waiting room is always crowded, so Xator always gets to mingle while we're waiting. Remember that puppy Erika got before we went to the Dominican Republic? She's gonna be 3 years old soon! Her name is Sasha. She's a real pretty one Buddy. And not all that hyper. Xator and her are real good friends. The three of you would have made some pack. And there's a new rottie in town. Her name's Cleo. She's 4 years old and a big lovely girl. We've only seen her a couple of times, but I'm sure she's going to join the play group. She's a lot of fun too, and always brings a neat toy.
How about some babble for old time's sake? "Hi my beauliful puppy...my precioudish puppy. Cosa de mami. My niño. And of course: Buuuuuuuuuuddy....buddy buddy buddy buddy buuuuuuuddddy. I always swore that you found that last one annoying. But how I miss calling you!
Well Buddy, here it goes. The goodbye I never got a chance to say. Buddy I miss you so much, and I always will. Nothing will ever fill the void that you left. You'll never know how much you meant to me. I'll never forget you Buddy. Never. Goodbye sweetie, mommy loves you. 04/24/02
