The City of
Clearlake is the largest (and newest) incorporated city in Lake
County. It is located on the southern shoreline of Clear Lake and is
the center of commerce in the Southshore region. It is also the largest
city in Lake County.
The Clear Lake
Chamber of
Commerce hosts the
Worm
Races
and there are numerous resorts, parks, lake access and other entertainment
in the city including a bowling alley and minature golf.
Lower Lake has a small town character and some local historic sites
and is the oldest town in Lake County. It also hosts the "Lower Lake Daze"
festival and parade on Memorial Day weekend each year.
Anderson Marsh State Historic Park
is where the Blackberry Festival is held each year along with a early spring
Tea & Musical and a Christmas at Anderson Ranch.
Homestake Mining has tours of the McLaughlin Gold Mine by reservation
weekends through October.

The Lower Lake Historical Schoolhouse and Museum has exhibits featuring
a geological display donated by Homestake Mining Company, a scale model of
the dam on Cache Creek, and collections from pioneer families. The restored
schoolhouse has a reconstructed classroom from the late 1880's/early 1900's
on the ground floor and an auditorium with a large stage on the second floor.
The building is open Wednesday to Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm.
