Mount Kinabalu - Page 6
The next day we started at 2am in the morning. Our target was to reach the peak at sunrise. Another 3,000 feet to go.

It was a steep climb at first on wooden ladders, in pitch darkness. Once we reached the rock surface we could use the white nylon rope as a guide but we still need the torch light to find our way through the darkness.

      On the summit plateau

It seemed to be a never ending walk on the summit plateau in the darkness. We must have walked for hours.

With another few hundred feet to go to the peak, the spectacular scenes of sunrise began to appear over the horizon.

The shadow of one of the peaks appears on the other side.

The last few hundred feet to go the Low's Peak. Hope you can locate our guide in a white jacket and a backpack. The white nylon rope acts as a guide and helps you to climb over the rocks in your exhaustive journey to the summit.

      And we made it !!!
to the summit  of the highest mountain in South East Asia at 13,445 feet (4,101m) above sea level.

Recording our arrival at the Lowe's Peak ...
ofcourse by way of photographs only

Our guide Pius is also with us. He is local living close to the park and climbs the mountain three to four times per week with visitors.
