LOST AND FOUND.

Some of the things you experience whilst on patrol or in a police station where this little episode occured make you wonder. I was on day shift at Christies Beach Police station office and at about 0730 hrs a cab driver brought in a small boy of about 2 years old. The outside temperature was about 95 degrees. The boy, wearing only a nappy (diaper) was found by the driver of the cab walking along a busy road. The boy was brought to the police station for care until his parents could be located. It was down to us in the front office to be temporary guardians. All turned out well in the end though and about an hour later he was re-united with his mum. It turned out she was putting the washing on the clothes line and left him in the back yard. He got bored and wondered off. You need eyes in the back of your head when you have kids and it only takes a few moments for them to go missing.

SNAKES ALIVE.

Another little story of something that occured whilst I was on the beat in the city of Adelaide, South Australia is the story of a very slippery suspect. It was about 0230 hrs and I was on the beat with my partner Mike when we came upon to chaps having an argument. Nothing really odd about it but its our job to check everything is o.k. and to try and get them to stop arguing. Whilst checking their bonafides our attention turned to a large wicker basket that was sitting on the footpath. When questioned about the basket, one of the chaps said he was a snake charmer. We straight away became suspicious that there was something unlawful in the basket. But he insisted it was a snake. Any way here's what was in the basket.
