- VISAS: REQUIRED BY ALL FOREIGN NATIONALS EXCEPT:
(a) nationals of Australia, Bermuda, Costa Rica, Croatia, Ecuador, Malawi and Venezuela for up to 3 months;
(b) nationals who do not require a visa to visit a country which is a signatory to the Schengen Agreement (see note below).
The Schengen Agreement (with regard to Portugese regulations):
Since March 1995, a borderless region known as the Schengen area has been declared, covering the following states: Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Portugal and Spain.
Nationals holding a valid passport recognised by all member states may need a visa for travel to any one of these countries.
Nationals holding visas issued by one of the member states are, in principle, able to travel freely within the borders of all seven. However, travellers may be refused entry to a member state for which they do not require a visa, if holding onward tickets to a member state for which they do require a visa.
