The following countries do not require visas for any of the Schengen member states: (a) Holders of EU passports; (b) Andorra, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Japan, Liechtenstein, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, San Marino, Switzerland, The Slovak Republic, Slovenia, South Korea, Uruguay, USA and Vatican City. However, some countries belong to a grey area for which each member state is free to decide their own visa requirements. Therefore, nationals of some countries may continue to face a visa obligation on entering one or more member states. According to the Schengen Convention, the right to travel in the territories of the member states is granted for a period of not more than 3 months within a period of 6 months. Types of visa: Entry visa: cost £21.96. A Schengen visa will be issued free of charge to the spouse and children of an EU member state citizen, upon presentation of the original marriage certificate and valid EU passport. For children, original full birth certificates are required. A charge of 52p is made for the visa sticker. Validity: Visas are valid from date of entry for the period specified on each individual visa. Application to: The Consulate General. For addresses, see top of entry. Application requirements: (a) Valid passport or official travel documents accepted by Schengen countries and valid for at least 3 months longer than the validity of the visa, with blank page for attachment of visa sticker. (b) Application form. (c)Passport-size photo. (d) Proof of purpose of visit in the form of an official letter of invitation from host or business partner, provisional ticket booking and hotel booking where appropriate. Upon issuing of visa the travel ticket must be presented. (e) Letter from employer or, if self-employed, from solicitor, accountant or Chamber of Commerce. References may also be required. Students must submit a letter from their school, college or university confirming attendance. Working days required: 3-21 days.
