.![]() Mrs. Beeton. Many cookery books from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries were meant for working class cooks who cooked for middle class households. Mrs. Beeton is the most well known, but there were several others Mrs. Warne, Eliza Acton and Madame Alting-Mees to name but a few. Well thumbed editions can be found in bookshops for a couple of pounds and if you are lucky there will be a few hand written recipes used as bookmarks. I thought it would be an interesting project to attempt to take the seasonal lists of produce and menu suggestions and turn them into graphics.
There is an element of artist's license in the graphics. . |
