Earth:
While many colonial citizens have never
set foot on the home world of the human
race, Earth still holds a special place in the
history and politics of humanity. As heavy
industry moved into space and
terraforming technologies were developed,
the once overpopulated, polluted planet has been restored to the
lush paradise it once was. It is still home to nearly a third of the
human race and remains our cultural center.
Oasis:
One of the very few planets yet
discovered that is teeming with indigenous
plant and animal life, Oasis is a paradise in
space. It is home to millions of colonists,
as well as the Colonial Defense Force
Training Command (CDFTC) and
Advanced Projects Research Facility (APReF).
Ragnarok:
A planet just outside of colonized space,
Ragnarok is a barren wasteland of ice and
very little atmosphere. Except for a handful
of remote telemetry probes (which have
since ceased functioning), it has been
untouched by humans, or any other life
form.
Mikhal's World:
Countless military personnel who have
been assigned to garrison the remote
listening post here have cursed Mikhal
Ivanovich, the astronomer who discovered
this tiny piece of rock. On the frontier of
human space, this post was established to
monitor radiation signals in hopes of discovering intelligent life.
Thus far, it has found no evidence that we are not alone.
Novus Prime:
Though not as verdant as Oasis, Novus
Prime is indeed a planet of valuable
resources. Her history is filled with battles
between rival corporations fighting for the
right to exploit her riches. Today the planet
exists as a kind of commercial center,
exporting huge quantities of foodstuffs to less hospitable planets
such as Anubis. The ever-increasing population of Novus Prime
may yet lead to the problems that once marred Earth. As for
now, it exists as one of the more impressive and important
planets within Colonial Space.
Anubis:
Rich in mineral resources, this desert
world is only barely habitable by humans.
Hobb's colony, the only human colony on
the planet, is a commercial mining facility
established six years ago. The lower
altitudes of the planet are blasted by
constant high-speed sandstorms. Tall, thin mountains and mesas
jut above the chaotic storms into the calmer, cooler middle
atmosphere.
Hobbs Colony:
Hobbs colony is named after an eccentric man named Jacob
Hobbs. A new age zealot, he had been run off of several planets
for his radical teachings before he and his followers arrived at the
barren planet of Anubis. To fund the colony, Hobbs made a deal
with Draktar Mining Corp. to run their ferrobauxite extraction
operation. Draktar executives jumped at the chance to hire the
Hobberions since they were the first people who actually wanted
to live on Anubis. Before Hobbs took over, their mining
operations had failed miserably due to unreliable personnel. In
contrast, Hobbs' zealous followers actually volunteered for hard
labor, and the mining operation became profitable. In return,
Jacob Hobbs and the Hobberions were free to practice their
beliefs.
