Hello fellow gamers. this is my CLASSIC game page.
As time goes by I hope to build a sight that many gamers will come to and enjoy. A few new pictures have been added to the Arcade section and a bunch more are on the way thanks to my new digital camera
Some of the sub pages have a pop-up that you need to minimize to veiw the page. I`m working on getting rid of it but haven`t been able to yet.
A new section will be: Contest.
This section will have a small picture of an arcade or home game screen shot, marquee, cart....
The first person to email me the correct game will win a PC game. Some of the titles that will be given away are: Test Drive 4, Tee Time, Screamers and others.
I will be adding another new section: auctions
It will contain pix and prices of arcade auctions I attend.
This page best viewed after a six pack
hear a welcome

BREAKING NEWS (1983)

Articles are a reprint from Electronic Games:
VECTREX: THE CARRYOUT ARCADE
The Vectrex stand-alone programing system from the GCE Division of Milton Bradley is particulary rich in titles with a science fiction twist. Not only does the console, which is built around a 9 in. vector graphics monitor, include Minesweep as a resident game, but several other spacey contests are currently available with more to come. Best of a strong group is this year`s Arcade Award winner as best stand-alone cartridge, Scramble. Although the graphic treatment is light-years away from the one Stern utilized on its quarter-gobbling coin-op, this scrolling shoot-out shines just as brightly in its own way in its Vectrex edition.

notice the article calls the game Minesweep instead of Minestorm

PLEASE CALL HOME
Atari`s recently published E.T. cartridge is notable for a number of reasons. Its the first game designed with a significant imput from a cinematographer ( Steven Spielburg ),and the first non-educational Atari title aimed squarely at the youngest age bracket of home Gamers. E.T. has proven unexpectedly controversial among players. Critics charge that that the cartridge looks hasty and lacks sophisticated play-action, but others vociferously defend the game on the grounds that it is faithful to the spirit of the film and of sutible complexity for those who are most likely to be interested in such a game.

I wonder if the same people still defend the game?

ACTV ROLLS INTEL CARTS
The first Intellivision-compatable cartridges from the team over at ACTV have just hit the shelves, much to our delight. New arrivals, which by the way are a bundle of fun, bring Pitfall, a jungle adventure designed by Steve Crane and a calf-roping extravaganza, Stampede by Bob Whitehead, to the Intellivision-owning community for the first time.

what do you think INTEL would do to them in 1998?

LITTLE KNOWN FACTS ABOUT WELL KNOWN GAMES

Reprint from Electronic Fun (1983)

FIVE FIRSTS
Firsts: The first video game with vector graphics was SPACE WARS. The first game with color vector graphics was SPACE FURY. The first game with a track-ball was NFL FOOTBALL. The first game with hyperspace was SPACE WARS.
When the game was designed, the cities in MISSLE COMMAND were intended to represent six cities on the California coast: Eureca, San Francisco, San Lois Obispo, Santa Barbra, Los Angeles, and San Diego.

TEMPEST TRIVIA
Programmers of TEMPEST made a mistake that they were once reluctant to admit. Some gamers discovered that if they scored 630,000 points (the record is almost 999,000), the machine would give them 40 free games. Wow! Much to arcade owners dismay, they couldn`t figure out what had happened. Atari was told and they admitted that the mistake was in the program. Some games have been fixed, but there are still some special TEMPESTS out there. just waiting.

THE RAINBOW EFFECT
The rainbow effect happens when you eliminate a column of invaders in SPACE INVADERS by shooting the bottom INVADER last. This isn`t super simple. A preferred style by pros is to shoot the column from the top down--every time you successfully do this, a color burst appears from the bottom of the screen and grows as it heads upward. You can also get a big point bonus. If you take out the column at the far left last, you get an even larger bonus of points. This is the real secret to a super high SPACE INVADERS score.
