Welcome
to MONSTER's Music Page. Sorry about the above reference, but I think that
these guys are pretty funny. Three of them (Colin, Den, and Vim) are from
another funny BBC program called "The Young Ones." I get a real
kick out of British humor...
Anyway,
below are some links to pages I find interesting. Dedicated to bands that
I find bring more to the arrt of music than a lot of the commercialized crap
out there. One group that I really enjoy is PRIMUS.
The bassist (Les CLaypool) is a very well-knowledged and capable bass player.
After seeing them live, I can tell you that I haven't seen a bassist in any
other band with the ability to make so many different sounds and sing over
the top of them...hard to explain.
Another
band which everyone in the rock industry owes most if their homage to, (even
if they don't necessarily realize it,) is Led Zeppelin. There is not a rock-band
out there today that can't say that Zeppelin had no influence over their music.
The likes of Plant, Page, JOnes, and Bonham will never be seen again.
I have
been listening to jazz more and more these days (must be my old age catching
up with me,) and really enjoy two bands in particular: Mahavishnu Orchestra
(now defunct) and The Pat Methany Group. This is owed to my frineds who tunred
me on to these particular bands a long time ago. Only recently however, have
I come to really enjoy TPMG...a little on the softer side of jazz, Pat Methany
is quite a guitarist and song-writer. When I saw the Pat Methany Group perfomr
live in NJ a couple years ago, I was completely blown away at how good and
proffesional these guys were. I doubt I will ever see such a concert again.
It will
take me a little while to get all the links up on this page, so come back
in a week or so to see if any have been added.
