White Dragon Cave

The White Dragon Cave is your training area. Don't be afraid to leave and return to town. There are no random monsters in Lunar, so even if you only have a single HP, you can still walk home -- assuming you can make it back to the entrance!

Monsters you fight here:

Slime
Slow, only has a hitting attack
Mutant Fly
Fast, long range, only has a hitting attack
Synapse Guard
Long-range attack
Albino Babboon
Two attacks: long-range attack (Ice Shot) and hitting attack

Items to find here:

  • Herb x4

This is the first dungeon, and you can test out theories and get used to how the battle works. I would suggest trying everything here, to make sure you know what everything does. Unless you are very lazy, and have all kinds of time to keep getting healed, I would suggest using the "Command," menu option, so you can manually direct them. The "AI" is decent, but is weighted toward magic attacks, even when a simple swat of the sword would do. Make sure you let someone die, to see the effect (resurrected by Nall, no EXP loss, no long-term effect, left with 1 HP after the fight). Here are some fighting tips:

  • You can only run so far for a short-range attack, so make sure you hit someone close, if you have a choice.
  • If a character is surrounded by monsters, they may not be able to move; if you tell them to hit a far off enemy, they may just lose that turn.
  • Some monsters will run to the other side of the screen and hit you with long-range attacks; you may have to spend a turn getting close.
  • If someone is weak and surrounded by monsters, you can use the "Defend" option to let them run away. This can also be used to block someone from a monster somewhat.
  • The "Run" option does not always work on the first try, so you might get hit.
  • While inside of a dungeon, going through a door (or saving) will make the monsters regenerate. However, some side effects, such as breaking a rock, will hang around forever.

I would suggest fighting some enemies, healing with Luna as you go, and then leaving as she starts running out of MP. Return to town, buy some better weapons and armor, heal at the statue, and then return to the cave. This way, you don't run the risk of getting stuck in the middle and having no HP and no MP, and no way to get out without dying.

You will find a path that is blocked by rocks (to the west), and a door that has several crystals around it; go in! You will meet with the White Dragon, Quark. By the way, Quark will heal you when you meet him, so don't worry if you are getting a little close on HP or MP.
