The Ultimate Grimoire

On these pages you can find the ultimate grimoire - everything you need to equip magic-using characters in the Hero system updated for 5th Ed. This material was gathered from many sources, but I want to particularly want to thank Robert J. Hall who has provided so much Fantasy Hero magic and graciously allowed me to adapt it here - not just spells, but many, many magic items. You can see the original material on his own website here, plus much more.

And of course nothing is ever "ultimate" in Hero System. If you have new spells, or cool magic items, email 'em to me. If they are added to the Grimoire, your name will be added to the Credits list for all to admire!

This material was gathered for my own game, and as a result, it uses my own house rules, but fortunately, these involve minimal changes. You should find almost everything herein directly usable in your own games.

Finally, there is now a downloadable version in MS word format, with a colour cover that you can download, print out and bind for use in your own games.

That said, there are two categories of stuff available for your delectation: the grimoire itself, with the lists of magical items, and pages from my own games, offering suggestions on how to design magic in fantasy games and pages from my game worlds indicating how that advice was out into practice.
