Kent Nelson was the son of noted archaeologist Sven Nelson. While
accompanying his father on an archaeological dig, his father was killed while releasing a
spirit called Nabu. Nabu possessed young Kent and aged him to adulthood, teaching him all
that he knew. Most of Fate's powers were stored in the artifacts that Nabu had infused
with his power. Kent went for a long time without wearing the helmet, as he felt that it
was taking him over. He supposedly died for a while and the mantle of Fate was passed on
to Eric and Linda Strauss. Kent and his wife came back, though,
and re-took the mantle. His wife ended up becoming Fate until just before Zero Hour, when
they were both Fate. The events in Zero Hour led to their supposed death. |
