TISM – The White Albun
Genre B. Goode / Madman
-That’s not what motivates me, I’m interested in a DVDWhy just release a new studio album when you can turn it into a box set packaged with two added DVDs? As TISM might say of the idea, It’s novel. It’s unique. It’s shithouse. DVD one is the legendary Save Our TISM Telethon concert from Melbourne last year. TISM performed an incredible show in front of a bank of volunteers working the phones trying to raise a million dollars or else the band would split up. At the end of the show it’s announced that they are a dollar short and the band exits while distraught fans chant TISM are wankers. DVD two is a compilation of: historic live footage spanning 1983 to 2002; Ron and Humphrey philosophising on aspects of their youth; and all of TISM’s film clips. Combined, this three hours plus of viewing is as significant a contribution to Australian cultural history as Shane Warne’s spinning finger is to sport. Then we have the new album, sorry albun. Musically it’s as bold as Diorama, its lyrics as insightful as anything Thom Yorke could pen and it’s humour richer than the Big Brother prize. Overall it’s more giving than John Howard in pre-election mode. If you don’t agree, you can always sing along to TISM Are Shit.
