Mitzrah's Get IT Right Column!
Hello there,

This section is about making thumbnails using Paint Shop Pro. Here are a list of sites where you can download Paint Shop Pro 5.0 if you have not got it yet.

What are thumbnails?

It is a smaller version of the original sized picture that shows you the original picture when you click on it. It serves as a preview to the original. So if people think they might be interested in looking at the original, they can do so.

Why use thumbnails?

Thumbnails are great because you DON'T have to write brief explanations of the bigger picture, like "A picture of my girlfriend and I at the mamak." For the picture on the left, but also, it allows you to attract your visitors. Afterall, pictures are much nicer to look at than words.

A word of warning though, thumbnails are only rough guides and so, don't put like 100 thumbnails on a page it would take a really long time to load! You can use another great software which I recommend to make thumbnails on a large group of pictures. I will write this tutorial some other day!

So let's get on with the business - making thumbnails

Here is a sample of a thumbnail. It is actually a smaller version of a bigger picture made by my friend Lisa.

If you click on it, it will show you the full sized picture! So this is a thumbnail.
