An alien has threated to take over the Earth. But he gives Earth one last chance. If a randomly selected human defeats their champion in a contest, then the Earth will be spared. The randomly selected human is a simple Japanese high school student named Ataru Moroboshi and his opponent a beautiful alien girl named Lum. The game? Tag. Ataru must grab Lum's horns before ten days are up. The difficult part about this is, Lum can fly! After many days with no success, Ataru's girlfriend, Shinobu, tells him that she will marry him if he wins the contest. Thus encouraged, Ataru manages to get to Lum's horns. But he has been murmuring something about marriage all day long. Lum mistakes this for a marriage proposal to her. Incredibly she says yes! Thus the electrifying Lum (she can deliver high voltage electric shocks when she is angry) moves in with Ataru and his parents. Shinobu is not too thrilled.
