The story begins in a dorm at NIT (Nekomi Institute of Technology) with our main character, Keiichi, house-sitting while his upperclassmen are out goofing around. Being a growing boy, Keiichi gets hungry and looks around only to find that he's been left without food, so he picks up a stack of take-out menus and tries dialing one for food. After about three failed attempts to order ramen, he manages to get through, but this time he's reached the Helper Relief Office. Belldandy, the attending goddess, hops through a mirror into Keiichi's room and grants him one wish. Keiichi, having a bit of trouble getting a girl, decides that it must be a cruel joke, and decides that he might as well wish for what he really wants ~ a girl like Belldandy to stay with him forever. But who's more like Belldandy than Belldandy herself? So, his wish is processed and approved, and Belldandy is to stay with Keiichi forever.
Keiichi's still in denial when his sempai come thru the door five seconds later. Which would be fine if it weren't for the dorm rule, no girls. So, Keiichi is tossed out and told that his stuff will be sent to him as soon as he aquires a new address. Belldandy, however, conveniently directs Keiichi to an old run-down temple where they spend the night. While Keiichi sleeps Belldandy goes to work fixing up the temple with her magic and making it gorgeous. By the time Keiichi wakes up the next morning he's got a killer new place to stay, a goddess living with him, all his sempai from NIT (who claim to be throwing a house-warming party), and his li'l sister Megumi knocking on the door asking if she can stay awhile.
