| In the year 1999, mankind had made great technological advancements. Unfortunately, the desire to clone still existed. A top secret organization under the name of SEELE had discovered Lillith, the mother of all mankind as written in the Dead Sea Scrolls, and were performing experiments in an attempt to clone her. This project was known as Project E. God was angry over mankind violating the laws of nature and sent Adam down to warn them to stop their ways. SEELE sent a group of scientists to Antarctica in the Katsuragi Expedition, to find Adam and shrink him to pupa state so they could contain him and clone him as well. Unfortunately, they found him and when trying to shrink him, Adam exploded to the degree of subfusion nuclear bomb *in idiots terms: A really big bomb* and melted the polar ice caps. Scientists referred to this as the Second Impact (the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs is believed to be the first.) In the following year, anywhere from half to three quarters of the world's population was wiped out. The earth's orbit was temporarily knocked off course, though SEELE did succeed in capturing Adam. Now it is 15 years later, 2015, and the angels have returned to make mankind pay for not listening 15 years ago. Another top secret UN organization, NERV, was setup to combat the angels. NERV developed the mysterious Evangelion robots *or at least we assume at first they are* to combat the great foes, each more dangerous and crafty than the next. Will mankind succeed and reach the higher evolutionary scale, or will the angels reunite with Adam and extract their penance. |
