Kaoru Nagisa

Age: 14yrs.
Occupation: Replacement Pilot for Unit 02

Kaoru is sent to NERV by Seele as a replacement for Asuka, as she is unable to pilot Eva Unit 02 due to the psychological poisoning caused by the Fifteenth Angel. During his first snychronization test, Kaoru achived a very high snychronization rate for an Eva configured for Asuka. As Misato searches for an answer as to who Kaoru really is, Kaoru and Shinji form a close, personal friendship bewteen each other.

Days pass and Kaoru is in the hanger of Unit 02. He then floats in the air and initiates Unit 02's start sequence without being inside the entry plug. An AT Field is then detected inside of central dogma level 3 and it is then realized that Kaoru is the seventeenth Angel. With control of Unit 02, nothing is able to stop him from descending towards terminal dogma. Shinji in disbelief is sent to stop Kaoru. As he and Unit 02 fight, Shinji goes to see if Kaoru is really an Angel by thrusting his progressive knife at him. The progressive knife is stopped by a strong AT Field. As Unit 01 and 02 fight, they reach terminal dogma and Kaoru goes toward what he thinks is Adam, but he realizes that it is another creature named Lilith. At this moment, Shinji defeats Unit 02 and goes for Kaoru. Kaoru with no purpose to live anymore, lets Unit 01 grab him and tells Shinji to kill him. Shinji with no other choice crushes Kaoru.
