Profile: In 2007, a man titled Bo Bafett came at random to a place called Sheffield Arms Inn, and found various people under this roof to his liking. A constant vagabond in his own right, Bo could always use employment, and asked the man Walker Akero if his Private Investigations business was hiring. With the absense of Joesph, Rahan, and Renki', Walker only had King to rely on these days, and that was a very recent occurance, so he indeed said he was. Brief competition in this field accured between him and a man named Kevin, but in the end, Bo proved not only was he the far more capable addition to the team, but a man closer to Walker's ideals than even they could have imagined.
Since then, Walker, King, and Bo formed a three-man team versus the world. It was learned that Bo had a wife named Scythe and several children, who were likewise incorporated into the guild. Bo and Scythe often teamed up with Walker and his then-girlfriend Donavon several times to seek out and destroy the most evil of Vampires, and when Donavon eventually betrayed them for Rhine's side, the same partnership was extended to Raven in replacement. Bo acted as Walker's "Public Relations" man (think Jayne Cobb from Firefly/Serenity) and was also often the go-between in any situation requiring "negotiating" or deplomacy.
While Bo occasionally would go on various vacations, he was more often than not there constantly. As a sign of total respect and acceptance, Walker soon had Bo joining the legendary UGoI-ESF, for even as it was a dead guild, there was no greater honor for Walker to give, including Bo's own command tank and badge. This move, however, seemed to be a small seed that no one expected to grow. Assisting several times with various enemies, including the cowardly Rhine (and decapitating her!), the sudden reforming of the UGoI-ESF to active status upon Rahan's return immediately propelled Bo to the rank of Squad Leader for all his experience and similarities with the guild.
Soon to follow, Bo assisted in the downfall of the Rhine and her people, joining Walker and Bo in following Edgar and Rahan to a temple that asked to help destroy Rhine's remains, and ended up (as our team suspected) being Rhine's followers in disguise. Following the proof of their evil intentions, the five of them proceeded the mass destruction of Rhine's entire hidden army there, with little to their might left over when the UGoI was through them. It was a night of fellowship and partying, at the slaughter of their fellow enemies. To this day, Bo remains a frontline in the team, ready for action.
Personality: Bo likes money, sex, power, and feeling like a big shot. Very deep, Bo lives his personalities like his life, to the fullest and with a touch of recklessness. Although his stubbornness is a constant with him, he can be dark and brooding, quiet and highly introspective, or near maniacal and kill-happy, depending on the circumstances. Bo is very confident and proud of his skills. He's one of the best snipers around, and he won't let you forget it. Of course, this has led to his rather bad reputation which means he is not well liked by other hunter-warriors, while his targets will often attempt to do anything to stop him. He cultivates an image as a cool, calm professional; a loner and ladies' man. As such, he likes to be distant from the group, except from the cute girls around him. He constantly makes passes as Shadow and especially Scythe.
Deep down however, he has a problem with stress. He tends to flake out in tense moments, and doubts his conviction as a father. When the call comes to help raise his children, Bo stalls, unsure if he can. He's also possessive, especially in matters of love. If you win his heart, he's going to make sure you remember that you're his as well; mild death threats from his desire to keep someone no matter what the cost not being beyond him if it carries itself too far. But he'll always convert to his love-struck happiness in the end if all goes well, or he can see promise in continuing it; sure that love will defeat any problems of straying minds. He takes his relationships seriously, to the point of not wanting to live anymore, or finding no worth in his life, if he loses someone.
Unlike most warriors, Bo isn't much for honor and the way of bushido. He's far more practical, and more interested in "what's in it for me?", specifically monetary rewards. He will often try to make a profit from an adventure, taking money from the dead, looking to sell information back to those it was stolen from (or, at least asking about a reward) and once asking how much the sword Akero Family Sword might be worth if sold. Bo is utterly ruthless. He will kill over the slightest insult, and disposes of several characters in the series (including Rhine, all her minions, and many Vampires) without a second thought. He considers himself the world's greatest assassin (and rightly so) and may fight an opponent with only one finger (or some similar stunt) in order to show how good he is.
Bo doesn't take kindly to losing (or traitors), either. Finally, he isn't above cheating to further his own ends. By the same token, Bo tries to do the right thing, and has a soft spot for the unfortunate, once giving his entire reward to two orphans so their uncle could afford to take them in. He’s also has come to like the free and open life on the road, and has refused service with the Vampires at least once. Rahan calls Bo a cheat, and Bo does attempt to cheat/trick people into paying for meals and stays at inns, with mixed success. On the other hand, Bo will abide by a deal and will keep his word -- if he gives it.
Bo was portrayed as an ultra-macho borderline psychopath in the earlier appearances, but has evolved into a much more complex and sympathetic character. A mix of ex-Jock and ex-military man, a Lead Zeppelin fan and faithful guardian, Bo is a killer with a conscience. It is unclear if he realizes just how far he has fallen in the eyes of his few peers. Bo cares for the Akero brothers as if they were his own family, and while he often shows irritation with Rahan Akero, it is clear that he is both fond of and protective of the man. Bo has been making recent efforts to get more in touch with his gentler side, but so far that hasn't stopped him from killing people. Bo doesn't like to use grenades or gadgets, but is competent with them.
Walker's Comments (Spoilers, misc. details)
Strengths: Bo posesses physical strength matching King's, can fly instead of glide, is tough enough to be bulletproof, has an infrared eye, a blade-releasing forearm and many other mechanical additions to his new form.
Weaknesses: A former weakness was a type of multiple personality disorder brought about by the other two minds inhabiting his body. He can be reluctant to involve himself in battle, citing he has suffered enough. |
