Profile: In the early 2000s, Walker ran across Raven Misery and her mom, Laurel Misery. The two were a dynamic duo, and apart of a bigger clan on the rise, and while their meeting one another was an hilariously iffy begining, they began to become something of friends. Laurel, however, began to dip to the Dark Side, using her raw Succubus-developed powers to help remourselessly express her spoiled, sinful desires, and seemed to be dragging Raven along with her until Walker stepped in, and stood up for Raven on the grounds of doing what's right. This act of selflessness caused Raven to reconsider her entire purpose in life, from Laurel wanting to make her the most spoiled princess ever, to Walker wanting to make her a champion against evil. Picking somewhere in the middle, she chose Walker's side over Laurel's.
Since then, Raven developed a romantic interest for Walker Akero, and was often involved in and out of his life during his long and checkered career, often being away from the Rhy'Din world for long periods of time. In 2003, at one point, she returned, and eventually let him know her feelings, and it was in this time he was still under grieving of losing Abby Kiiro. Raven stayed at the Akero Residence despite her own tavern cleared of loitering homeless, and played a crucial role to helping Walker get over the girl of his dreams. Although she disappeared again by late 2004, by 2005 Walker had completely gotten over her.
In 2007, Walker thought Raven had returned, with the appearance of Donavon de la Cruz. The fact that she looked exactly like someone of previous romantic interest to Walker, Raven, had more than caught his attention. At first, he thought it was just Raven with memory loss, they'd been so similar! Their comparable personality traits and lifestyles caused an instant bond between Walker and Donavon, that eventually lead to a relationship, where Walker thought he'd never see Raven again. They assisted each other throughout 2007 against various villainry, including the returning villain Rhine from Walker's past. Although Rhine would have been easy to deal with should she done real combat, she was a hit-and-run expert and had many followers.
Donavon, however, did not remain the stubborn and independent mirror image of the dominant Raven however, when she inherited a spiritual essense of her mother in the form of an amulett. Upon the amulett breaking, Dona's mom fused her spirit into her daughter, giving her a great rise of power, including physical prowess and empathy, but it also gave her an overloading set of whimsical emotions, leading to bipolar disorder. It caused a great fighting between Walker and Dona, and Donavon's gradual illness would eventually cause Dona to leave for several months. When she returned, she saw a returned Raven--the girl Walker mistook her for when they first met, and that she indeed both looked exactly like Donavon, and indeed she still had feelings for Walker.
Drawing up a conclusion from Walker and Donavon's previous fights due to her straining relationship with him perpendicular to her bipolar breakdowns, she felt Walker must have no longer had feelings for her and must have liked this far more stable version of her instead--this Raven--and disappeared with the intention of never seeing him again. Her gradual paranoia caused her to join Rhine's side, causing Walker to end their relationship. Raven, in her return, took over nearly all aspects of Donavon's work at Walker's place of business, lending her Demon-hunting expertise in full to the team. She helped take on Rhine in the final hour, and was there to oversee her defeat, as well as being involved with the raging reality-eating death God that came to the Sheffield some months later.
It is at this point that Raven is also returned to the UGoI-ESF station, and in addition takes the Lord High Assassin rank in the forum. She supports it's rebirth, while remaining extrmely loyal to Walker, looking to take over where Donavon left off in the relationship department. Things remain tentative however, and while she's reclaimed her residence at Misery's Manor (and a substantial wealth on top of it), she continues to live within Sheffield Arms Inn, and can often be found hanging out with Walker, either with the co-workers and friends that are in there, or with their mutual friends down at the Fellowship of the Holy Beacon tavern and beach house.
In 2008, Rahan resurfaced once more during a time when Walker had finally given up hope for the UGoI to return--quite literally, as he came out of the ground from a portal that lead to a Hell dimension. Having found a new set of friends in the few he'd run across, Rahan met them and his wife all over again. During explanations of where he'd been, their reunion was cut off by Walker's long-time standing enemy Rhine, and this caused the UGoI to form once more into a team and take her and her twisted depredations, destroying her and her ilk once and for all. This tremendous reunion not only sparked the return of many more old school who heard the good news, but projected the rebirth of the UGoI. By this time, Walker had joined with a guild called the FotHB, and currently works to make it a guild under the UGoI-ESF.
Personality: Has an ego the size of Kyoto, and Takahashi character stubborness so bad, she won't admit to herself that Walker might not even like her even after it's been spelled out repeatedly both verbally and physically. At least some of her behavior is explainable by early abuse by his mother, and possibly her husband's chemical experiments have something to do with it. Mostly, she thinks *she's* the star of the series, and doesn't get why she isn't being treated like it. Raven is very eloquent in her speaking and generally has sort of a self-absorbed attitude as well as a huge ego. She pursues both money and Walker with a fervor that could almost be called insane. This chasing of the two items is the only time we see her get worked up and lose her cool, poetic, and calm demeanor. Raven also has a high sense of honor, but she easily undermined or twisted to fit her own needs. Though maintaining that she is very different from Donavon de la Cruz, Raven is really very much like her, though slightly more restrained.
Walker's Comments (Spoilers, misc. details)
Strengths: Over the time he has known Walker, Raven has taken a great deal of punishment. She has shown the ability to come back after being beaten down by the Grendel, which means she has to have built up a considerable amount of endurance. She has the ability to harm opponents with her sword without even hitting them, since the movement of air caused by her quick strikes can be almost as bad as being hit by the sword itsself. Raven can be deadly with her sword if she is focused on the fight. No one is Raven Soventis' equal in the art of swordplay, and Raven uses this to his advantage. The sword, in Raven's hands, has been known to destroy concrete walls, chop down trees, and makes cracks in stone statues. A classic, but very deadly, fencer-like style punctuates her moves.
Weaknesses: As a practicioner of Fencing, Raven doesn't have a whole lot of experience with hand to hand fighting. If she were to be disarmed in the middle of a fight, she would be rather helpless against a competent martial artist. Also, since she has the ethic of a kngiht, she will never fight all out against an unarmed opponent. In addition, Raven has a rather high opinion of herself and her combat abilities and this overconfidence has lead her to defeat on many occasions. Aside from the fact that Raven probably can't fight too well bare-handed, she also gets distracted very easily, either by Walker or potential money. She sometimes forgets the fight altogether and begins to spout poetry, professing her love for one or both of them. She is easily fooled into being falsely charmed, especially by Walker. Raven also has a big ego, and tends to be overconfident in the fight. Her speed is also slow compared to the other fighters. |
