Profile: In the late 90s, Vent and several of his friends joined the ranks of one of the new major guilds to arrive in Anime Gaming, the ESF or Earth Special Forces. Through direct confrontation with the rival guild, The Orochi, Vent and his company of friends made badges to wear, for the pride of the guild. However, the upper-ESF saw this as a sign of Vent and his people trying to become officials by having badges akin to the police, and demanded they destory them or be killed. Realizing the ESF was a corrupt guild through various discussions with them, Vent split off his group of ESF from the main branch, and formed his own guild under the same name.
Since the Orochi did not know there were to ESFs, and indeed carried their own few bad apples to help instigate things, Vent's ESF was on a two-sided war against the Orochi and the evil ESF. Their small band couldn't do much considering the sheer numbers, but his ears were always open for allies. And that's when he heard of the strike against the Orochi from an unknown guild calling themselves the UGoI. Grabbing his things and setting off, Vent met with the supposed leaders of this assault, Walker Akero and Piccollo Daimao. Seeing a fellow of the Nameksaijin culture, as well as a fellow Demon Hunter, both among them, he eagerly took the UGoI in as ESF's allies.
This was cemented when he met the rest of the UGoI, and joined them. Likewise, Walker Akero met the rest of the ESF, and joined it as well. The members began to meet regularly with one another, and managed to open up several attacks on their enemies. Vent even got romantically involved with UGoI's Jenn, and the relationship became one of the most memorable in the UGoI history. However, much like when Walker and Shai's relationship came to an end, so too did Vent and Jenn's. And rather than mend like Walker had with the support of Vent and Rahan, Vent chose to begin a training journey to find a renewed reason to live. Half the ESF left with him, and ESF seemed doomed to crumble, as UGoI was.
A lot of things from this point on change dramatically in Vent's life, and his position with. When Vent left, ESF was left to die, but a friend of both guilds--who'd been against joining either of them due to his loner status--saw this, and approached Walker Akero who was seeing UGoI die at the same time. Taking over the remnants of the ESF, Bean had Walker take over the remnants of the UGoI, and the both decided to merge the two guilds together into one guild. Rahan, Tux, and Mike joined on board with this immediately, and they all turned to Vent in hopes that this might inspire him to return. Unfortunately, Vent was insistant on his journey, and left. Eventually, this lead him to Christianity.
The next time the UGoI-ESF saw Vent would be about a year later. Journeying through to visit as if called by destiny, Vent ran across the UGoI-ESF in a whole new avenue. Now relocated to Rhy'Din, many more members had been added to the roster, and Walker Akero himself had lost his Human soul, turned to evil recently, and against his will. Learning from Mike Giovanni the situation, Vent met Renki' Sar Kane for the first time, and the three of them worked together to try and bring down and, if possible, repair Walker's Grendel Demon so the good Walker they all knew and loved could return. With the success of restoring Walker, however, he also brought Walker difficult news. He and Shai were now together romantically.
While this came as a hard blow for Walker, he also accepted that..if there was anyone else in the world he'd rather Shai be with, Vent would be that person. And considering her own change to faith, Vent was a priest now, and it seemed to suit, even as that choice made Piccollo an enemy to them both. While Walker made Vent UGoI-ESF's Chaplain, Vent refused to return to active duty, citing that his work was now with God, but to keep him in reserve in case he was ever needed. But even during the worst, such as Gameron Garcross, Vent was never found again, although the UGoI-ESF is well aware he does still exist. All they wonder now is what became of their brother in arms who had such an impact upon their future.
Personality: Vent has a determined personality fueled by the desire to destroy the evil demons and also to fulfill his friend's dying wishes. Cold and somewhat unfeeling, Vent will stop at nothing to achieve what he wants to achieve, and does not hold back against Walker, using everything in his arsenal. Though not an evil character, Vent is not really caring of mercy when it comes to a fight. Vent is a Night Parade officer. As it stands, Vent is also quite willing to fight virtually anyone in order to defend and protect his non-fighting brethren. His stats and skills are standard for a police officer, although he should have Knowledge: The Bible and often quotes from it (or at least uses it as a source of inspiration).
Vent likes to try and keep a cool exterior -- and does for the most part -- but underneath he's quite hot-blooded and impulsive. He likes action and adventure, and won't back down from a fight. He tends to take risks and chances, and is always pushing himself, or his tank. However, Vent does have the physical skills to pull off many of the stunts he tries, so one can excuse his reckless nature. An important element of Vent's attitude can be found in one of his quotes, which seems to indicate that Vent isn't sure if he's alive or dead. His risk-taking and unconstrained nature may be his way of reassuring himself he's still alive, or, may reflect the idea that since he's already "died" once already, what's the worst that can happen to him?
As with almost all UGoI-ESF heroes, Vent suffers from an over developed case of vengeance. Vent is also a bit of a show off, pausing to intimidate his opponents with an impressive flexing of his muscles, or a demonstration of his prowess of with the nunchaka or something similar. He's also shown a tendency to make a fool out of a foe. As is usual for UGoI-ESF heroes, Vent usually has a close acquaintance (usually female) that provides some of the motivation for the mayhem that follows (usually through said character's injury or death). If wounded (blood is drawn) Vent will usually pause, brush his fingers against the wound, taste the blood and wig out, pounding his attacker into the ground. Usually the pause and wig out part is a presence attack. In just about every scenario, Vent's character is hunted (directly or not) by someone. In the films set in 1990's ESF this was the Orochi (a common villain in UGoI-ESF history), or the police, or a rival school.
Due to his skill, Vent is a very confident fighter. He is so self-confident, in fact, that one could almost call him arrogant. Vent believes his martial skill is the best there is, and as of yet he's not been proven wrong. In addition, Vent likes to train constantly, and when he's not sparring, he's working out. For him, physical conditioning is almost an obsession. Vent believes he has seen and done everything, and he is probably right. He has grown somewhat weary of the world and has become cynical and jaded. However, he still values his life. Therefore, although he tries to avoid unneccessary death as much as possible, he will fight to the best of his ability when cornered. Over all, Vent is best described as "a nice guy. He is kind, courteous, and considerate, and treats most everyone as an "equal," which means that for the most part, he doesn't use his status as a samurai to bully others.
He also has no liking for bullies, bandits, and anyone else who uses strength to take things from those weaker or unable to defend themselves. He respects the farmers, craftsmen, and peasants as people of worth, and has stayed with many, assisting them in their jobs (to help pay for his stay) and often learning a few new skills as he does. However, make no mistake, Vent is not soft or weak. He is an honorable man, and upholds the tenets of Bushido. If needed, he can and will fight, and once he draws his swords, it's almost certain his foe will die. He won't kill wantonly, but also won't hold back if his foes need to be stopped. As stated above, Vent mostly wants to have a normal life, and so he tries to get in less problems as possible and can be whiney when he's not in the mood (read: in action). Reh-Bah loves to torture the poor boy by freaking him out, so he has little tolerance for the holy craziness of UGoI-ESF. But there are few souls more gentle and understanding around. Later Vent is much more down-to-earth and less moody than the earlier one, notice this.
Walker's Comments (Spoilers, misc. details)
Strengths: Vent's got the speed, power, and intelligence on the battle field. Although he isn't really evil, he is an opportunist and will take advantage of any opening his opponents leave to strike. He holds nothing back in a battle, using his very powerful and potentially fatal attacks without mercy on his foes if he considers them to be enough of a threat. Most of his special moves are powerful enough to take out a martial artist on the level of Walker in a single hit, as they have done before in his battles.
Weaknesses: Vent and his martial arts style are very straight forward and aggressive, leaving him with little room for adaptability. Once he's used his most powerful attacks, although they are very powerful indeed, he has nothing to fall back on if they've been countered. Also, due to his aggressive nature, he isn't always the most cool-headed in a fight, prone to getting frustrated if he can't directly confront his enemy, as he did when Walker fought him using the Grendel Demon. |
