Looking for an Apartment

	Check Rentals.com or Move.Com for listings in the area you where you plan to move and helpful advice and information.
	Expect to pay about $1,500/month or more for a 2-bedroom apartment in a good Pasadena or Glendale area. Housing in West LA, Westwood, and Santa Monica, will cost much more.
	Expect to pay the first month’s rent in advance along with a security deposit, which could be the amount of one month’s rent.
	A lease is generally for one year, but there are 6-month leases as well. Also month-to-month rentals. A lease is a commitment to pay rent for a specified period of time.. A month-to-month rental is a commitment to pay rent on a monthly basis with no minimum stay, but giving 30 days notice prior to leaving. If you lease a place and stay on after the lease expires and there is no renewal of the lease, then it becomes a month-to-month rental.
	Notice if a stove and refrigerator are provided, otherwise you’ll have to get them.

	The transition network tries to donate furniture, linens, and kitchen items.
	Thrift stores are a good source to check for items that must be purchased. There is a good Salvation Army Thrift Store in Pasadena on Del Mar, in the block just west of Fair Oaks. Quite a bit of furniture, although it isn't real cheap.
