The Tredagh Trekkers is a hillwalking club based in the Louth/Meath area.  It was set up in March 1995.  The club is affiliated to the MCI  (Mountaineering Council of Ireland).  Members walk regularly from September to June, mainly in the Cooley, Mourne and Wicklow Mountains.  There are generally two walks organised for each date on our club calendar.  One will be easy (3/4 hrs with 'easy' ascents) and the other moderate/difficult (4/6 hrs, with moderate/difficult ascents).  Many members meet on the morning of a walk outside The Sound Shop, Drogheda, in order to pool cars. (The sound Shop is situated on the quays)  Our membership fluctuates from 60 to 80 members.

Aims

  • The aims of the club shall be to promote the safe enjoyment of, and participation in all aspects of mountaineering.
  • Membership shall be open to all persons over 18 years of age, who support the aims of the club.
  • Membership, is open to individuals who recognise that climbing are mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury&Members shall be aware of and accept these risks and agree to be responsible for their own actions and involvement.

Don't forget to bring a change of clothes for after the walk.  Have a chat with members on walks & you will get plenty of advice.
