Yep. I play drums so it's on the page. Right now i am on a pretty old pearl kit, on loan from my uncle, whose band, The Triffids, broke up a couple years ago. I think the bass player from their band now plays with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Anyway, i'm going to be putting up some cool stuff here like drum beats and rudiments, including the famous 7 stroke triple pulse roll.

Here's the deal with performance audition requirements to get in to the con.

1) Rudiments.

Single stroke...quarter note speed = 80
Triple Stroke roll... = 94
Double Stroke roll... = 100
Five stroke roll... = 110
Seven stroke roll double pulse... = 100
Seven stroke roll triple pulse... = 75
Single paradiddle... = 155
Double paradiddle 6/8... = 88
Flam... = 250
Flam tap... = 104
Flamaque... = 110
Flam paradiddle... = 100
Single drag tap... = 140
Double drag tap... = 70
Single ratamacue... = 90
Double ratamacue... = 58
Triple ratamacue... = 90

2) Demonstration of drumming styles

Rock
Latin
Fusion
Bebop
Swing
Use of Wire Brushes

3) Chart Reading and interpretation.

4) Mallet keyboard knowledge (if applicable)

5) Rudimental Snare solo.

6) Arpeggio knowledge.
Major, minor and dominant 7th in all 12 keys.

Here's the transcription audition requirements.

a) Rhythmic dictation
b) Melodic dictation
c) Interval recognition
d) Individual chord recognition
e) Chord progression recognition

The Written audition.

a) The spelling of scales
b) Transposition of melodies to various keys and clefs
c) Supplying the missing rests in rhythmic notation (various time signatures)
d) Chord spelling
e) Intervallic spelling
f) General arranging questions (instrument transpositions, drum notation, etc.)

Pretty much a heap of stuff to learn isn't it?
