funk

This is my funk page. I'm not really old enough to comment with any genuine degree of integrity on funk of the seventies and eighties, but a lot of the music i listen to is funk. I think that a lot of music can be kinda classed as funky. Whether it be the 16th note pattern on the hi hat or the slap-pop bass technique, a lot of music today, top 30 even, has funky attributes.

One of my favourite bands at the moment is a local (in saying local i mean from Perth) band by the name of The Jive Express. These guys are a bunch of unreal musicians. Their debut album, 'Vision Inspired By Emmanuel' was three years coming, but man did they put out a polished album! I think almost all the people in the band, some 19 or 20, are Western Australian Conservatorium of Music graduates. The music is nothing but classy. Without putting myself at risk of commenting in a way that might take away some of the glory that these guys deserve, check the site yourself. www.jiveexpress.com

A Sydney based band, Jamiroquai was lent to me by my brother, the album was Emergency on Planet Earth. This album is still in a tape player around my home, it's been about one and a half years since i got it. Two words...Get It.

A Sydney based band, d.i.g. , otherwise known as directions in groove, are a top band. Funky, jazzy, grroooovy. That's them. Sounds files on the page too.

Gospel funk home. It's got links to a couple bands with sounds and stuff. Not a fully great site, but some interesting stuff on it. Hmmmm....

The Greyboy Allstars.

This is a pretty rad funk page.

Funk links galore here. A lot more links are to be found here. Mostly funk like P-Funk...old school funk.
