Education was seen as important early on so the Triquatrians made
education compulsory at an early age. Children would first start
school at the age 6 where children were disciplined and taught the
basics of reading, writing and arithmetic. At the age of 11 they
would go to a specialised school in a particular subject area or
they could to a non-specialised school. They finished school at
the age of 18 or they could go on with their education at a specialised
school for another 3-5 years. The difference between the two is
that specialised schools mainly taught a restricted amount of subjects
on a few topics but were much more in-depth and were seen for the
better students. Non-specialised schools taught a wide range but
weren't as in-depth and were more for the people who had jobs already
or wasn't interested in school. Going to a specialised school you
had to board, sleeping there on weekdays and if needed weekends.
Most people didn't get the opportunity to go to a Specialised school.
The only thing holding you back from going to a specialised school
is cost and required marks. Education cost is set at a minimal but
it does cost more to go to a specialised school for the boarding
and the extra time that is spent there. Also to do schooling at
an age over 18 you must pass the test for that certain subject
Amon Gwareth region specialised in the Science and Math subjects.
It had a range of sciences and is very in-depth in maths. You could
still do subjects such as English and other basic courses at any
school but didn't go as in-depth as its particular school. You could
still do in-depth Maths and science course and do an advanced course
of another subject but it was a heavy workload and the other course
still wasn't as in-depth as it is at its particular school. Dorthonian
specialised in practical work such as building, mining and other
apprenticeship type jobs. Here you learn as well as working under
the school part time and the things you make the school sells and
part of the money it makes pays up to a certain percentage of your
school fees. Sheaffera was a bit more mixed having not only agriculture
and how to use the land type subjects and give them experience at
farming but you also could do business and technology. This is because
not to many people want do agriculture so business and technology
studies are done there too. Centos have subjects like literature,
law, history and also arts, music and drama.
Specialised schools weren't as big as a university but more like
a very large high school. You could also change schools at any time
but it was hard going into a specialised school. Non-specialised
schools were still good schools and some very academic people have
gone to them just so they can have a more wide range of subjects.
