combination of shiatsu and stretches. Some recipients have mentioned that

A lot of the enjoyment and benefits achieved from an Esalen Massage,
and any massage, is the openness, understanding and energy the recipient
brings with them to the massage table. It is very important to trust your
massage practitioner and to maintain an open and healthy relationship with
him or her. If you ever feel uncomfortable for any reason, you should convey
this feeling to your massage practitioner. Your safety, security and enjoyment
are of the utmost importance and should not be compromised.
In addition, it is just as important for me to feel comfortable with
the person in my care as it is for the recipient of my massage to feel
comfortable and secure with me. If I do not feel the energy is right, I
will not work with the client.
For me, my massage is an energy exchange in which the enjoyment and
relaxation of the recipient flows back through my hands, through my body
and back into the recipient. This exchange often leaves me more energized
after a massage than before, having felt our positive energies increase
the vitality of both practitioner and recipient. Oftentimes, I prefer to
give a massage to receiving because the strong connection and the euphoria
and relaxation of the recipient is especially rewarding to me.
