// Doom II: Hell on Earth

Who hasn't played Doom II? This game is like a god of the first person shooter genre. Doom II is the sequal to the smash hit Doom. Doom II is essentially the same thing as Doom, only with a couple new weapons (the double barrel shotgun, and the BFG, which I'm pretty sure wasn't in Doom), and more monsters. The Cyberdemon and the Spider Mastermind make more frequent appearances, and a new monster, the Arch-Vile, scares the shit out of me every time I see it. Whoever thought these monsters up had to have lived in Hell at some point in their life. With all these monsters come much bigger levels... wide open levels where things shoot at you from far away, from above and below you.

The story goes something like this. You have fought your way through the monsters on the giant moon base you were stationed on... and then through Hell itself... and some hidden doorway on Hell transported you to Earth, only to discover Earth invaded with more Hell spawned demons. Soooooo... guess what you get to do? KILL KILL KILL!!!

Although this game is old, if you get into it... you'll find that it has some real nice atmosphere. The music is simple but awesome and always fits the level like a glove. This game is packed full of secrets, some of which are nearly impossible to find. The level design in Doom II is what shines over the original Doom. The levels are more unique and diverse; the wide open levels make me feel like I'm actually inside the Doom world, and that's a very cool experience! These are creatures of Hell we are talking about here. Creatures of Hell do not come in very limited quantities, so get ready to mow down huge piles of then like there's no tomorrow... cuz who knows, maybe there won't be. That's what this game is all about!

Also, what made this game super popular on top of everything else, is the ability to play fan-made levels. There's more custom levels available for download than you could probably ever play in a lifetime. So as long as you have the urge to kill demons, there's always a fresh new level just a download away. Some level designers have evil, EVIL minds.

This game gets 9 / 10 stars.
