Primary Goal

The University of Ottawa Bike Club creates a setting for bikers at the university to organize and go out and ride. The club doesn't discriminate on the type of rider you are. Riders of any form or calibre are welcome to join the club and attend its organized events.

Informing the General Public

The University of Ottawa Bike Club also attempts to inform students on various bike related issues. These issues can range from bike maintenance, to bike shop locations, trail maps, the promotion of bicycle transportation or deeper issues affecting cyclist rights.

Support

The University of Ottawa Bike Club also lends support to bikers on and off campus. It works closely with different organizations to ensure that cyclists are given a voice and that their rights are recognized and respected. If there's an issue you wish to bring up e-mail us at uottawabikeclub@gmail.com and we'll see how we can go about addressing it.

*Joining the club is free! To be on our mailing list all you need to do is send us an email (uottawabikeclub@gmail.com) specifying your name and which specific list you want to sign up for. Here is the breakdown for the lists:

UofO Road Cycling Club:
This list includes weekly road rides and time trials along with whatever social or advocacy programs tuned specifically for the roadies in the club. And long distance aggressive road rides. Anything fast pace on asphalt that gets the old ticker pumping.

UofO Mountain Bike Team:
This list is for all the mountain bikers in the club it excludes DH and urban/freeride riders. But anything mountain bike is here it invovles the XC rides out at Kanata Lakes anything to do with U Cup racing and our quest to setup a varsity U Cup team at the school and anything else specifically geared towards mtb advocacy, trail sustainability, and mtb riders at the school. We can forward you IMBA and OMBA emails upon request too we're officially registered with those two MTB associations.

UofO Bike X-tremists
So this is for all the crazy guys that want to come out DHing or ride some street bmx/freeride downtown. You'll know when we're going on rides or if we have anything else going on like WATCHING X-TREME BIKE VIDEOS. This group will work with the MTB Club a lot since most members in it ride mountain but emails distributed from this list will be urban/dh specific.

UofO Bike Collective
The Bike Collective is for anybody who enjoys biking in all its forms. This broad category will include all social rides, advocacy, workshops, non-aggressive touring, anything to celebrate the fact that biking is awesome and you're that much more cool because you bike. This has stuff for riders in every category generally if you're interests in the club are with everything that has to do with biking except aggressive physical activity this list is for you.

If you ever want to be taken off let us know.
