The UofO Bike Club is unique to most other university bike clubs in the country because it chooses to focus on all bike related areas from racing and riding to teaching and advocacy it really has a quite eclectic focus. There's something for every kind of rider in the club, listed below are some of the many things we do in the club:

Mountain Biking

Ottawa has a good solid network of trails for all you outdoors trail riders. Whether your into racing or just pedaling for the fun of it the club does it all. Hey want to know where all the local trails are? Check the local trails page: TRAILS PAGE!

Cross Country Riding:

We hit up the different cross country networks all over the city. Don’t worry about your skill level we’ll accommodate for you. When rides go down. We meet on campus by Protection Services near SITE. Everybody is welcome out. If you have any questions (e.g. When are you riding?) let us know.

Down Hilling:

DH is awesome we hit up either Calabogie or Camp Fortune from 11:00am to 5:00pm. We also organize a larger trip to the bigger DH spots on the East Coast (Bromonte, Blue Mountain ect.) each year. Lift tickets cost around 20 bucks and helmets are required to go on the courses. Let Pat Tardif know if you want to come out with us we got space: awesome_opossum@hotmail.com

MTB University Cup Team:

Yea we got a MTB Team. We hope to slowly move our way to official varsity status over the next few years. But for now we ride like unofficial animals. Everybody is welcome out to these. There is a Pro level and an amateur level so something for all riders. The U-Cup races happen ever Fall in 4 different locations in Ontario with riders from all over the province taking part. Depending on the location of the race we usually spend one or two days out of the weekend at them. They're all located around the GTA and we tend to carpool/caravan the team down. If your interested let Pete know: crazyjerk_75@hotmail.com

Road Cycling

Local hot spots to ride road TRAILS PAGE! What are the roadies up to in the club:

Cycling Rides:

Under normal conditions we meet outside Protection Services for a group road ride which lasts about 2 hours. Speeds vary but we generally go at a pretty quick pace. Unless you're in great shape it is recommended that you bring a road bike or a bike with slick tires out to these rides. For you slower riders that still want to ride road try coming out to the Social Rides they generally go at a pace that works for anybody (see below). Anybody interested in coming out to the next road ride email roadie coordinator Oleg: olegromanov21@hotmail.com

Road iTT:

We have 3 time trial races throughout the year. One in early fall one in late fall and one in the spring right after the snows melt. Prizes are awarded to the winners. The event manage to be both fun and competitive for more info on our next race or any other questions you may have let Jordan know: hy.triarch@gmail.com

The Bike Collective

The Bike Collective is the promotional/advocacy portion of the club. It looks to inform, promote, and support cyclists and cycling on campus. We have different projects going for info on these email us or attend our monthly advocacy meetings.

Social Rides:

These rides are setup as a means for different cyclists, regardless of type or skill level, to get together and do what we all love to do best and ride. We hit up the different paved trail networks around the city. Here is a list of tours we will be doing this year: Social rides Page Rides are for everybody this is more of a social event than anything else. For more info on our next trip or on the rides in general ask Andra: andra.nadeauj@hoymail.com

Workshops + Repair Clinics:

We setup weekly clinics and workshops on campus under the CREGS building from. Why pay a shop 60 bucks when you can do it yourself for free. What most people don’t realize how easy it is to fix their bike. We have 5 sets of workshops that run each semester that look to teach you how to fix your own bike click here for more details: Interested in coming out to the next workshops or want to know where our next bike clinic will be ask Sean: yellsnake@gmail.com

Advocacy:

Got a bike related problem on campus? Let us know. We meet every last Wednesday in the Clubs room at 2pm between September to April to discuss Advocacy related issues on campus.

Cycling Promotion:

Cycling is one of the best forms of sustainable transportation. We want to do our part to get people to put their keys away and pedal for transport. It's time for a pedal revolution and that's exactly what we're heading up. Roving bike gardens, stickers, bike carts, bike share, repairs, Critical Mass, we got lists of stuff we got going on to get people crazy about riding their bikes! But we need help the more of us that unite the stronger our voices will be. Got creative ideas on how to get people exciting about riding or just want to help us out let us know we`d love to have you join us: uottawabikeclub@gmail.com

Other Areas
