[munich airport]

This is my favorite airport in Europe, if not the world. Munich Airport is German efficency at its best. The airpoet is sleek and modern with shops, restaurants and plenty of seating. A Taxi from the airport to downtown Munich will cost a fortune. There is a S-Bahn station in the terminal to transfer you to downtown.

[u-bahn/s-bahn]

The Munich U-bahn and S-Bahn system is an amazing and very efficient. Stations are well marked and system maps are easy. The tickets are a bit hard to buy since ticket machines are in German, but its easy to figure out. Before you put ypur money in, hiit some buttons and see what happens. You will usually only need a ticket to travel within Zone 1 unless you are going to Schloss Nymphenburg, Dachau or the airport. If you buy a ticket from Munich Airport to the city center, you can learn how to use the machine becasue in the airport some machines have English translations. One more thing, it amazes me that you buy a ticket but no one ever checks it. It's the honor system at its best. Iadmit, I did sneak in a free ride or two during my trip.
