Ontogeny: Developmental life history of an individual; from fertilization to death.

Phylogeny/Ancestral history: Development of individual during the different phases of evolution.

Osteology: Study of bone and skeletal system.

Arthrology/Syndesmology: Study of joints or articulations.

Myology: Study of Muscles.

Splanchnology: Study of visceral organs.

Angiology: Study of cardiovascular and the lymphatic system.

Neurology: Study of nervous system.

Aesthesiology: Study of sense organs.

Developmental anatomy: Study of successive developmental changes in organisms from fertilization to a fully developed individual.

Embryology: Intra-uterine phases of development.

Special Anatomy: Study of biological structure of a particular species of animal.

Comparative anatomy: Description and comparison of anatomy of different species of animals.

Systemic anatomy: Study of different systems in animal body one after the other. E.g. skeletal system, muscular system, angiology, neurology etc.

Regional anatomy: Study of the anatomy of all the structures present in a particular region of body. E.g. bones, muscles, blood vessels, lymphatics and nerves of forelimb.

Anatomy: (Greek: to cut open) Branch of biological sciences which deals with the form and structure of the body and its parts.
