Race and Stats
Different races offer different resistences and vulnerabilities
(compared to human), and different stats (compared to humans). E.g.,
lacertains gives 22 str, 22 dex, and 22 con , plus they have resistence
to cutting and thrusting damage; thus a great choice for fighters.
When you roll a char, you should always get as many stats at 22
as possible. E.g., an elf can have 22 dex and 22 int. Also, get
as high strength as possible, all your early physical attacks depend
on strength. With less than 14 strength, it is very difficult to
get to high level.
Strength: attack rating & attack damage
Dexterity: defense rating
Constitution: HP/EP raise
Intelligence: SP raise, detecting (invisible), scry/claire
resist
Wisdom: SP raise
Charisma: steal resist
Luck: HP/SP/EP increase per level, skill %chance success
(e.g., thief & bard), %chance hitting double effect (or half
effect if low luck)
Is it possible to increase your stats? Yes. You may choose to donate
cash to the Astaria Temple (from GH: 4s, 2e). Usually, 3 to 9 tri
contributes to a random raise in HP, SP, EP, or one of the stats.
However, if a stat is already 18 or higher, it can no longer be
raised. You can donate up to more than 500 tri (maybe around 650
tri).
Also, you can get an elixir that will raise a specific stats by
1 (e.g., elixir of speed gives +1 dex). However, a char can only
use 1 elixir.
It is also possible to permanently screw up your stats. If you
are diseased (e.g., by a Dire wolf in Vestachelon Cemetery) for
more than 5 minutes without cure, you will start losing HP and con
permanently.
A set of good stats = a good character.

Items
Items that lie abroad the realm can be found in 2 general forms
- unique and tserv.
Crudely speaking, aunique item is only generated from one specific
monster or location. Some unique items are rare. An emerald dagger
is only generated 4 times per realm reboot (meaning every 7 days
of uptime, only 4 can be obtained); A Cat-O-Nine-Tails is a rarely
dropped by the Drow Priestess, where a Baselard is always dropped
by Sargaul.
A tserv item is randomly generated. Many monsters drop tserv items
- Casey drops a tserv ring, Starfall Dwarven Guards drop basic tserv
gears (basic pvaultables), etc.
The name of the weapon does not determine the functions of the weapon.
If you're from a Diablo-like game, you'd probably think that preffixes
and suffixes mean something.. well they don't.
Some items have special properties. Shard of Night and Silvered
Longsword have weapon damage specials; Hammer of Dwarves and Necromatic
Bone Staff have hp/sp drain specials; Amulet of Dragon gives +bonus
to swim; a Mithril Scale Shirt gives +bonus resistances to cutting
weapons and thrusting weapons. Weapon damages randomly occur during
the course of a battle. Sometimes it would take 10 rounds to see
a single special, yet sometimes you'd see them round after round.
Can you find your own gears? You won't be able to find your own
gears until you could kill Starfall Dwarves, usually at 10/10. They
drop pvaultable gears like Brass Gauntlets. Never attempt a monster
unless you know what you're doing. For example, you wouldn't want
to kill Kobold King at 7/7 unless you're an elementalist.
What it's about
Starting up as a heritage, you'll need 5000 exp to become Player
Level 1 (1/0).
From here, you'd want to join a guild, so you can use guild skills
(and perhaps guild vault items). Different races can join different
guilds, and different guilds require different stats. Then you advance
in level by borging (killing at a place for a long time to gain
experience). Every player level you advance, you'll want to train
up all your available skills and advance in guild level. When you
hit master level (20/20), you can start exploring the realm in more
depth. You'll be opened up to a whole world of new possibilities
where you can kill whatever you want (with restrictions).
