The Week In Review

1-28-2001

 Weekend -- more cleanup inside -- Margaret vacuumed most of the new rooms.  

 Used excess insulation to attempt to "sound-proof" the laundry room.  

 Ran the wire for the new TV Antenna rotator from the base of the chimney though the basement ceiling to the new Family Room.

1-29-2001 

 Drywall delivered.  They used a crane to put it through the upstairs windows.

 Insulation inspection scheduled for today, but he did not show up despite Margaret waiting all day at home.

 Stair railings delivered.

 Considering replacing the front door.  Want one with a mail slot.  Considering a red, black or white in steel or fiberglass.

1-30-2001

  Rainy day -- no siding or masonry work

 Electricians back for more finishing up of rough-ins.  Finished the rough in of the new phone wiring.

 Passed insulation inspection - with a few minor points to be done.

 Upstairs furnace started up.  We have HEAT.  
1-31-2001 

 Drywall started.  It makes a big difference in how it looks.  Already have several of the bedroom ceilings and some walls put in place.  They put all of the drywall up in the new Breakfast Room.

 Wrapped up the small fixes from the insulation inspection.

 Pulled down the all the plastic wrapped around the stairway -- will be replaced with drywall today -- and not needed since the addition upstairs is now insulated and heated.

 Put in 2 electrical boxes for the Cat-5 wiring termination in the office closet and pulled all 16 wires through the boxes.

 Masons attached the coax cable to the new TV antenna and put the antenna up on the rotator.  Fixed the bricks on the side of the chimney - stair-step pattern was not complete next to the house.  They finished by "acid washing" the chimney to clean it up and then they took down their scaffolding.

 Margaret bought ceramic tiles to "spice" up the 3 new bathrooms.  Will have white tiles put around the tub (3' x 6' x 3') and on the floor.  She has designed patterns with color tiles and/or picture tiles for each of the 3 new bathrooms.

2-1-2001

 Drywall work continuing.  They have put all of the drywall panels in place in all of the rooms.

 Put new pictures up on this web site.

 Filled in some insulation in new Family Room where walls were demolished.  Used the leftover pieces of insulation.

2-2-2001   Siding delivered on the driveway.

 HVAC unit delivered but not installed in breakfast room.

 Drywall was taped and spackled.   Lots of very fine white dust all over the place.

2-3-2001  Weekend -- cleanup and kids' basketball and indoor soccer games and Tim's District Band concert and Liz goes to Cosmic Bowling sleepover party.
