ALison got the job she wanted with disturbed boys. Jes got her internship at some fancy designer place (I never remember what it's called) in NY. Cathy got a job. Kate got into grad school where she wanted to go. wow!

Dryer fixed. But I tried to scan some pictures that we got developed and the cord to the scanner is buzzing, so i think maybe it's the outlet. so i switch outlets and try scanning again. it starts buzzing again, but it is still scanning so i just try to ignore it. then i start to smell something and smoke starts coming out of the cord. not good. at least it is only the cord and not the whole scanner that's busted. (knock on wood)

When I was in high school my superlative was most technoogically inclined. While i don't really know what that means, the past few months have led to loathe technology. First there was the great power surge which led to the untimely demise of my stereo, telephone, microwave, and alarm clock. As a direct result of the power surge the refrigerator and oven began to malfunction as well. Then there was the great flood of last week due indirectly to the dishwasher. Now, last nite I was doing laundry and the dryer just won't turn on. I don't know, but it just won't go. Luckily between us and the neighbors we have three drying racks, so now my clothes are drying in the living room. The computer is probably going to blowup as I write this. URG! I will really enjoy the time I spend this summer on the island with litle electricity and no running water.

The great flood occurred this week. IN MY KITCHEN!!!! i would still be fording across the floor if it weren't for the lovely jes who graciously helped me clean up. and the phone stopped working, but it was fixed this morning. under the knife - no more wisdom teeth for me come a few weeks. and kenny revealed(?) my leather fetish at lab meeting. it was really funny and totally ignored by everyone else in the room.

"The most sadistic thing ever done on WUOG 90.5 , according to one happy listener was when the 6 OPG and Crystal and Anna sang on air for an hour during Cathy's April Fool's Day shift. It was awesome fun, but we only got the second half on tape. And sadly the first half was monumentally better.

Last nite I went to this band party. It was really good until the lead singer of the second band started acting really shitty and jumping into the crowd and such, causing much trampling. then he decided to throw wine into the crowd. as I was in the front i got it in my eyes and they still burn. and it got all over my shirt which is ruined. in other words Jordan sucks.

So today at lab meeting Tim said the funniest thing. I think it was totally unintentional. He had just given a talk at some conference this weekend and so someone asked how it went. He was trying to get the point that it was highly underappreciated by the crowd who was obsessed with his data analysis and not conclusions when he said "there was a significant number of statisticians in the audience." hee hee.

In the spirit of Crossroads, Jes and I sang I love Rock N Roll at karaoke tonite.

So Last nite we had a superbowl party at Kenny's house. It was fun. Lauren, Cathy and I tried to convince all the people there that we had met Troy Brown when we were in Boston a few weeks before. After the game we watched Playboy Playmate Fear Factor. fun.
We finally altered the cards in our popstars clue game so that they actually show the popstars they are.

My new favorite CD is Madonna's Erotica.

So Last nite we went karaokeing. This must be genetic; like so many strange things I am ashamed to have in common with my siblings (i.e, a love of sentence diagramming), karaoke is a hit among Grus children, well maybe not Jen, but she's never been normal. So last nite we went again - me Cathy Lauren (which took some convincing) Roxane Crystal and Nate. Lucky Nate! So first I sang Jessie's Girl. Cathy and I did Your Song, then Nate and I finished with Somewhere Out there. That one was beautiful.

So, Last nite we returned from our venture up north to Boston. It was a good time. It snowed a bunch, and we went out that nite. (apparently some cities don't shut down at the sight of white powdery precipitation). on the cab ride home cathy asked the driver if he was good at driving in the snow, and he said no he was from Haiti. we made it home though. Sunday was fun when i lost my wallet on the Boston mass transit system. luckily i found it and Alison and I travelled up and down the red line eventually rejoining our friends. We managed to travel for over two hours on one transit token while leaving the stations many many times. The most entertaining parts of the trip were riding trains and airplanes. on the airplanes we annoyed all around us by singing. cathy and i also made puppets out of the motion sickness bags. On the way there it was Barfy and Barbie Barfy. On the way home it was Barfy Jessica and bARRRRRFy (he was a pirate). We saw a band from New York called the Walkmen with the most aDOREable drummer in the world. Now I am back in the reality of school. yuck. On the way home Jes and I chatted it up with the DJ of Star 94. It was a bit odd, but Jes made it on the radio.

So, Last nite Crystal was over at my house, and we were singing karaoke, because that's what we do at my house. For the holiday spirit, Anna gave our house this alien-baby plant that kind of looks like it came straight from Little Shop of Horrors, or it is more horticulturally known as Amyrillis. The reason it looks so bizarre is that the initial bud has really four buds in it that all bloom into flowers. I guess it's hard to explain. Anyhow, I am positive that after Crystal and i sang last nite, the flowers opened up a little more. ie, My voice make flowers bloom.

So, Last nite we went to a BYOF (Bring Your own Forty) party. It was a fabulous idea for a party. First the five of us had to go to the liquor store to purchase our forties. The sight of five girls buying six forties was quite humorous to the liquor store workers. We got to the party and drank to Forties and Friendship. I left kind of early because i am sick. :( I got some pictures from new years that are here!!!!
