The Blue Mountains

We took an hour-and-a-half train ride out to a town called **, near the scenic Blue Mountains National Park, so-called because when the sun is shining, the light refracts through the oils secreted by the eucalypts, giving it a blue sheen.  "When the sun is shining" is important because it happened to be rather drizzly and misty when we arrived.  Most of what we saw was fog.

The world's steepest passenger railway is here.  Not quite as entertaining as a good roller-coaster, but it does get you down from the top and into a good area for a little hiking.

10 minutes walk from the railway--it feels very isolated with all of this fog.  None of the trees in this photo are all that far away, but the fog is really thick!
