Front end concept study. Strong influence by Bill Spear's redesign of the original Bantam roadster can be seen in the grill area. |
Front end concept study. Felt to lean toward the Jaguar more than was desired. |
Getting closer to what we wanted at this point. The headlights are pushed out and that reduces the aggressive face of the car. These were later moved back and into the hood sides. Port holes replaced the louvers and the louvered fender disappeared. |
Original computerized concept based on an 80 inch wheelbase. This style was felt to be too smooth in the rear. The car was later expanded to an 85 inches wheelbase and further developed into a more aggressive style. For size comparison, the human models are at 6 feet. |
Scan of the original concept drawing of the 85 inch wheelbase car, with more aggressive styling. Developed late one evening by Wayne Rogers and Rick McDaniel in the High Sierra mountains of California. |
Engineering line drawings of the Ascot Roadster. Developed from the above drawing, and used to develop all subsequent drawings and alignments. Many detail changes have been made to these original drawings. |
Computerized version of the final design. The engineering drawings were developed from this basic design and the body mold templates were taken from the line drawing of this version. |
Computerized Side view showing desired hood line and front fender line. This remains the target profile. |
