PV Pride Festival 98 is the very first Gay & Lesbian Pride that takes place in a virtual reality (VR) community. Come join us for this historical event!

A celebration of human diversity
If you think that this is not for you, please read on. Most of the program will be for all of us, gay, lesbian, straight, bisexual, transgendered, or just a mere humanoid. As long as you don't mind interacting with others, you might find it fun.

This Pride is initiated and planned out by citizens of Pink Village, which is a G/L/B/T community in AlphaWorld, one of the many worlds within the VR universe of Active Worlds (AW). If you are new to AW, you should download the free browser and get used to how to use it, before the Pride starts. If you have questions on this, please feel free to mail us.

Active Worlds
If you are not already a regular user of Active Worlds (AW), you might wonder how a Pride Festival can be arranged online. AW is an online 3D system which allows the users to interact, build and chat. Each user appears as an avatar, and can move and chat, and watch the scenary as well as what other avatars are doing and saying.

In AW you are able to build with objects from a huge object library, creating houses, gardens and other locations, and even add pictures, sounds and music. If you do this as a part of a community, you'll get an idea of how such a community also might gather for events and entertainment. Pink Village is such an online community, and within AW there are hundreds of others.

To visit this universe you need to download free software. It's totally free to use as a Tourist, but if you would like to build on a permanent basis and use all of the program's features, you need to register as an AW citizen, which costs approximately 20 USD a year. Such a registration is not necessary for visiting and participating at the PV Pride Festival 98.
