Policies and Schedule

Attendance Policy

Absences, excused or unexcused, are recorded in the  instructor's daily attendance book. A student unable to attend classes must call the school and report to the office.

An excused absence is one that is due to illness, death in the immediate family, or any other unavoidable circumstance. The school must be advised of the reason for said absence within 24 hours and the reason must be supported by documentary evidence or said absence will be recorded as unexcused. Whether the absence is excusable or inexcusable, the time missed must be made up during the school's make-up schedule.

Class Schedules

Full Time           Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm

Part Time          Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 1:00pm (Morning classes)

                        Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 1:00pm (Evening classes)        

Note: Students must adhere to appropriate schedule as outlined in the contract.

Clock-in Policy

All students must be present in their assigned class no later than 9:10 am. A student arriving after 9:10 am but before 10:am will not be allowed to clock in until 10:00 am. A student who arrives later than 9:10 should see an instructor for their time card. Evening students must be in their class no later 5:00 pm otherwise a tardiness slip will be issued. Tardiness in excess of two times per week will be a cause for consultation with the school manager. If a second tardiness consultation is required, the school reserves the right to expel the student.

School Closing

Unexpected school closing will be reported to radio station WKZO and Channel 3 News. Students are advised to tune in to one of these stations in the event of an increment weather.

Leave of Absence

Leave of Absence is granted only to students who must temporarily interrupt their training. A request for leave must be made in advance writing.

Grading System

Theory tests and practical exams are graded according to the following scale:

Unsatisfactory Progress

At any time the school determines a student is not maintaining passing grades or is not completing MPA's according to the schedule, the student will be placed on probation and a written warning will be issued by the staff. At the end of the probation period the student's progress will again be reviewed. If the student's progress is still unsatisfactory, permission will be requested from the State Board of Cosmetology to terminate the student.

Student Records

Students may review their grades at any time. We guarantee the rights of students and parents of dependent minors to access their records by appointment and with supervision and interpretation. No records will be released without written permission.

Uniforms

All students are required to wear white professional uniform such as white regulation uniform shoes and a blue smock at their own expense.
