Will House - Just a Great Cricketer Okay, so when you ask people who their fave cricketer is you don't readily expect Will House to be the automatic response. So then, the next question is generally "why??!!". This particular line of questioning then followed up by frantic searching through the yellow pages for the local shrinks number. This is my humble attempt at answering the "who?!" and "why?!" questions and saving myself being resigned to a life in Loonsville. I'm not gonna dwell too long on the 'who' question. You ever know this genius or you don't. Basically a Cambridge University and ex-Kent all-rounder who decided to up sticks and leave for the 'team' (sorry Sussex fans, I love ya really) across the border known as Sussex. Strange that someone with such a good education should not be able to make common sense decisions and stay where he was (oh the pain). Unfortunately found this season in the depths of the Sussex 2nd XI championship team and a few National League appearances here and there. They don't know what they're missing out on. . . . . . . . . . So now the "why?!". I could bore you to death with a load of stats, etc. But doing maths at school has most definitely put me off the things and even my maths teacher told me they meant little in the real world. This is probably where my sanity is well and truly put into question but here goes: Being a Kent fan, that went to watch every game that I could, I saw quite a bit of Will. He didn't get many first team chances (thank you very much Kent management, I love you) and, okay, didn't set the world alight. Some people just have that buzz about them where you know they're good and have the ability to do something real special. When I saw him he was more of a batsman then a bowler but looking at results this year his bowling has definitely improved an will make him into something more special. Very difficult question to answer - something I just know about this guy. Like I said - that buzz. Become a standing joke between me and my mates about this Will House thing of mine (I stop short of calling it obsessive like everyone else). I can't help it. I'm a devoted cricket fan through and through and know what I like when I see it. I have one simple quest in life - to spread the Will House phenomenon worldwide. So when he's playing for England very soon remember that strange girl off the world famous Middle Stump website that told you first. And being Mystic Meesch I will answer the question to what you're all thinking - no I don't fancy him, honest guv. :o) Meesch, September 2000. This article is taken from the Middlestump website which is a cricket fanzine site based in England, with contributors coming from the cricket4 forum. Something to say?? Then sign our Guestbook!
