From Channel 4/Cricinfo Forum to Worldwide Phenomenon

What you see here is a thread (one of dozens created) that has been lifted from the Channel 4/Cricinfo website forum.  There's a link on our site to the new one (cricket4 forum) which is well worth a visit!!!

It was threads such as the one below that caused Sussex C.C.C. and Will House to notice that there was belief for his abilities as a quote from their March 2000 e-newsletter shows. . . .

"Will House recently found the Channel 4 Cricket Forum on the world wide web and was most surprised to find himself the subject of great discussion.  Let's hope his Kent fans will still follow his progress this side of the border."

This thread gave us the impetus for the current campaign, as the girl formally known as 'Michelle' realised that she was no longer alone. . . . . .

Will House Watch

posted by Tom on 19:45 23/4/2000

This is the original and definitive thread to chart Will House's (this forum's absolute hero) ascent to greatness.  23rd April - bowled Hartley for seven. I'm sure it was a great ball that got him and those seven runs were truly beautifully made no doubt.  Anyone who saw him today though, please tell all.  He didn't get a bowl, probably due to the suspect captaincy of Chris Adams.

Will House Watch doesn't just apply to cricket matches, if anyone see's him anywhere else like the pub or a sleazy sex joint, please get in touch.

I've also thought of an official logo - "Will House, we're watching you"

Cheers for rubbing it in Tom.

He's obviously unsettled in this new, strange place (bless 'im!).

Look at the efforts of the rest of the team in the last two matches - he's done pretty well in comparison!

Will House - they're watching, I'm praying!

Who is Will House, will someone please enlighten me?

For God sake please let him be the heir to the "Maxwell House" empire, or at least a relative!

He's a fantastic player opening the batting for Sussex today, oh by the way....24th April bowled for a duck.  Michelle I wouldn't dream of rubbing it in, it pains me as much as you when our man fails.  bet he was unlucky again today.

He has taken 4 (four!) wickets.  This must certainly cure Michelle.

Re: Will House Watch

Only slightly, I'd prefer lots of runs to wickets.  Glad he was able to make his mark in the game though.

I still believe in you Will!

Will House should pay attention to Michael Bevan 157* wot a legend and an Aussie too!

Are they as impressive as Brett Lee's?

'We're only here for the cricket' - isn't that how the song goes?

Re: Will House Watch

House isn't looking half as impressive not playing the attacking role he did for Kent - if he can take wickets like that then it doesn't matter if he gets out cheaply sometimes.  Besides, Bevan is the only batting a One Day side needs - he is an absolute monster with the bat - how comes he fails in 1st class cricket?

His profile is at Cricinfo.

but sadly (if you are thinking on these terms..) there is no photo of the man (could someone in this group help, Tom? Michelle?.)

Go to the Sussex C.C.C. website (sccc.demon.co.uk) and have a look at the players bit.  Not looking his best it has to be said (dodgy new haircut) but hey, who cares?

Re: Will House Watch

But of course we are mainly focusing on his cricket skills now aren't we people?  We must not sidetrack the original issue.  He is a star, he should play for England and I want him back playing for Kent.

I can't help what he looks like, nor what he plays like but I will tell you he is the best and he will go far!!

P.S. I have the best picture going of mr. House from the good old days when he was playing for who he should be and not the wannabes over the border.

He's a good looking bloke and no mistake, not that I'm anything but totally heterosexual.  Michelle, now you've got his e-mail you must have e-mailed him.  I'm sure our man needs all the support he can get right now and who knows maybe he's looking for that special someone.  Go for it, after all faint heart never won fair maiden (or Will House to be more precise).

Re: Will House Watch

posted by Michelle on 18:47 28/4/2000

Can we get off the trail of thought that I am only interested in this bloke for what he looks like (please!!)?

Besides - today - WILL HOUSE 0*.  I am expecting good things for tomorrow.

Tom - I sent him one last Saturday and am still waiting for a response. . . . . . . . . . . . .

Have you sent him one?

:o)

Sorry I'm sure you're very appreciative of his cricket talent, but if I was that way inclined Will House would be a hell of a catch what with brains, good looks and a bit of cricketing talent.  Just don't tell me the thought hasn't crossed my mind.

I would e-mail our man but I'm just too much in awe, if I saw him in person my legs would just turn to jelly and I'd probably start dribbling or something.  Cracking 0 not out today by all accounts, I hope he pushes on and makes a big score like as much as eight :).

Just doing my Will House Watch service. 26 at a run a ball opening and 3 for 34 off seven, looks like our boy's coming good.

Will House is class - no doubt about it.

Keep up the good work Tom.

Re: Will House Watch

Why is it always me who has to do this?  Will House yesterday - 2-27 off 9 overs with the ball and four with the bat.  There you go.

Re: Will House Watch

posted by Michelle on 13:06 3/5/2000

Tom you are a star - don't forget that fact.

It is sometimes too painful and distressing for me to write how he's doing. . . . . . .

Re: Will House Watch

posted by Will on 22:32 3/5/2000

I don't mean to be rude but I hope Will House fails.  I no longer like him since he left the mighty Kent, who are currently shoving it up Zimbabwe with our second team!

Re: Will House Watch

posted by Chris on 22:16 5/5/2000

Will, that's just not the right attitude.  Besides, he's in my Telegraph team!

Sussex aren't very good, are they? - they've got 4 or 5 good players and the rest are all below average dross.

Come on Will House!!

Re: Will House Watch

posted by Michelle on 23:08 5/5/2000

When (and that's when, not if) he plays for England surely he's gonna remember that it was Kent that gave him his first break.

He's in my Telegraph team too which has surely put the jinx on him.

Great win today by Kent.  Can't believe the team we fielded were that good.  Future looks bright if this game's display was anything to go by.

:o)

I'm sorry, I didn't see what his score was today (she says very convincingly) - would someone like to enlighten me??!!

:o)

Re: Will House Watch

3 overs for seven runs, a catch and an impressive 35 (!!) runs for the one and only Will House (this is getting like Eurovision).

Re: Will House Watch

posted by Michelle on 19:11 14/5/2000

But a lot less cheesy!!  Plus Will House is a hell of a lot more interesting to watch!!  Saying that, I think even Will House could have beaten those blokes that won Eurovision - and I can't see them matching him on the cricket stakes (but mind you who could??!!).

:o)

I can't believe Sussex have left him out of the 4 day game against Worcester.  House has the attitude and work ethic to turnaround Sussex's disappointing start to the season.  As Mr A G would say, 'Realise' 'Boyakasha' Re ewind when House says bo selecta....
