INFORMATION: Chip controlled phone cards are not so common in many places. They are very much similar to chip cards that are used in GSM (Global Mobile Satellite) cell phones. The only difference being, while one has to pay monthly or contractual feel for GSM, chip controlled cards are usually bought on single upfront charge and used and discarded just like magnetic phone cards. They cannot be recharged or re-used once the pre-programmed amount has been exhausted.
