Getting Extra Energy Through "Draining"

On a Menos Bronze weapon (any weapon will do but let's just use Menos Bronze as an example) let's say your Wisp level is 7. It takes 512 energy to get Wisp from level 6 to 7 on a Menos Bronze weapon without a Witch or Sorceror card.* When a level is drained, it releases the energy needed for that level. So if you drained Wisp from level 7 to level 6 then 512 energy would be released. (How are we doing so far?) And if it was drained from level 6 to level 5, then that's another 256 energy because it takes 256 energy to get to level 6 on a Menos Bronze weapon without a Witch or Sorceror card. So you have a potential 768 energy that can be released for use by another essence if you have the right element card on your weapon/armor to catch that 768 energy. So let's say you drained Wisp from level 7 down to 5. Now let's say that you have an Undine card on your weapon when this happens. What's going to happen to that 768 energy? Now here's the weird part: if Gnome is less than 1 then Jinn will get that 768 energy. According to the chart that is...at least as far as I understand it.

But what happens if you have the "Mirrored World" card on your weapon? Everything will happen the same except, Salamander will get the 768 energy. In other words: If Gnome is less than 1 then Salamander will get that 768 energy.

However, there is a catch. And I'm not quite sure how to translate this. It might be either:

a) You will get less energy from a drained essence if you raised the levels you just drained using the "Witch" or "Sorceror" cards. In other words, if you used the "Sorceror" to help your Wisp essence to level 6 and 7 then you will get 192 energy for draining level 7 and 96 energy for draining level 6 for a total of 288 energy.

OR

b) The amount of energy that is released will be less if you have a "Sorceror" or "Witch" card that corresponds to the element you are trying to lower. So if you lowered Wisp from level 7 to level 5, and you had a "Sorceror" card on your weapon, then only 288 energy will be released.

*The formula for figuring essence level energy requirements normally is this:
Material Resistence × (2 ^ Current Essence Level)

Dryad If Wisp < Shade then Aura will raise If Wisp > Shade then Aura will raise
Aura If Wisp > Shade then Dryad will raise If Wisp < Shade then Drayd will raise
Salamander Undine will rise Gnome will rise
Gnome Salamander will rise Jinn will rise

When Essence Levels Will Not Rise*

Normal With "Mirrored World" card
Wisp nothing If Shade > 1 then Wisp will not increase
Shade If Wisp > 1 the Shade will not increase nothing
Dryad If Wisp < Shade AND Aura > 1 then
Dryad will not increase
If Wisp > Shade AND Gold > 1 then
Dryad will not increase
Aura If Wisp > Shade AND Dryad > 1 then
Aura will not increase
If Wisp < Shade AND Dryad > 1 then
Aura will not increase
Salamander If Undine > 1 then Salamander will not increase If Gnome > 1 then Salamander will not increase
Gnome If Salamander > 1 then Gnome will not increase If Jinn > 1 then Gnome will not increase
Jinn If Gnome > 1 then Jinn will not increase If Undine > 1 then Jinn will not increase
Undine If Jinn > 1 then Undine will not increase If Salamander > 1 then Undine will not increase
*I think this means in situations where you've just drained another essence.
