January 11, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Korean Workers' Party, chairman of the DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) National Defense Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army (KPA), inspected a foodstuff processing factory now under construction by servicemen. Kim was accompanied by KPA generals Ri Myong-su, Hyon Chol-hae and Pak Jae-gyong and first vice department directors of the C.C. (Central Committee), the KWP (Korean Workers Party) Ri Yong-chol and Choe Joon-hwang.

January 14, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected KPA Unit 4428. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and Ri Yong Chol, member of the WPK Central Military Commission and first vice department director of the WPK Central Committee.

January 15, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defense Commission, inspected KPA Unit 943. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and Ri Yong Chol, first vice department director of the WPK Central Committee.

January 19, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, met the visiting delegation of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China led by Wang Jiarui, head of the department who is alternate member of the Central Committee of the CPC. Present there were Ji Jae Ryong, vice department director of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Wu Donghe, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK. Kim hosted a dinner in honor of the guests.

January 29, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected KPA Unit No. 844. Kim was accompanied by Yon Hyong Muk, vice-chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of its Central Committee.

January 30, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected KPA Unit 493. Kim was accompanied by Yon Hyong Suk, vice-chairman of the National Defence Commission, KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of its Central Committee.

February 3, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected KPA Unit 614. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Rim Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae, Pak Jae Gyong and Member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and First Vice Department Director of the Party Central Committee Ri Yong Chol.

February 10, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected KPA Unit 1128 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led 7th Regiment. Kim was accompanied by Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of its Central Committee.

February 12, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected KPA Unit 162 honored with the title of Kum Song Lifeguard. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su and Hyon Chol Hae, and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of its Central Committee.

February 13, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected KPA Unit 1549. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su and Hyon Chol Hae, and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of its Central Committee.

February 17, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, met with Elena Scherbakova, head of the Moiseyev State Academy Folk Dance Troupe of Russia. Also present at the meeting was Russian Ambassador E.P. to the DPRK Andrei Karlov. Kim also watched a performance by the Moiseyev State Academy Folk Dance Troupe of Russia. Kim was accompanied by Kim Yong Chun, member of the NDC of DPRK and chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army, Yon Hyong Muk, vice-chairman of the NDC of the DPRK, and other senior officials of the Party and army, senior officials of power, administrative and economic institutions and in the fields of science, education, culture and arts, public health and the press and servicepersons.

February 24, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected KPA unit 131 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led 7th Regiment. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice-department director of its Central Committee.

March 2, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected KPA Unit 252 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led Seventh Regiment. Kim also visited the Twice Three Revolution Red Flag sub-unit of the unit and saw an art performance given by servicepersons of a company of the sub-unit. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and Ri Yong Chol, member of the WPK Central Military Commission and first vice-department director of its Central Committee.

March 6, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected KPA Unit 272 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led Seventh Regiment. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of its Central Committee.

March 11, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army received Viktor Eliseyev, head and chief conductor of the State Academy Ensemble of the Ministry of Interior of Russia. Kim also attended a performance by the State Academy Ensemble of the Ministry of Interior of Russia. Also in the audience were Kim Yong Chun, member of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and chief of the General Staff of the KPA, Kim Il Chol, member of the NDC of the DPRK and minister of the People's Armed Forces, commanding officers and servicepersons of the KPA.

March 15, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected duck and fish farms of KPA Unit 233. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of its Central Committee.

March 17, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, gave field guidance to the land realignment in South Phyongan Province. Kim visited the Mubon Plain in Jungsan County, Mayong Plain in Onchon County and other places of the province. He was accompanied by Vice Marshal of the Korean People's Army Ri Yong Mu, vice-chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong, Col. General Ri Pyong Sam and Ri Yong Chol, first vice department director of the Central Committee of the WPK.

March 24, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, met with Li Zhaoxing, foreign minister of the People's Republic of China (PRC), and his party. Also present were Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and Wu Donghe, Chinese ambassador e.p. to the DPRK.

March 26, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected KPA Unit 916. Kim was accompanied by Vice Marshal Kim Yong Chun, chief of the KPA General Staff and member of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, and KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong.

March 27, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected a sub-unit of KPA Unit 979 honored with the title of Kum Song Lifeguard. Kim also inspected a power station built by KPA Unit 966. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and Ri Yong Chol, first vice department director of the Central Committee of the WPK.

April 1, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected a women's company honored with the title of Twice Three-Revolution Red Flag of KPA unit 1056.

April 4, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected the July 18 Cattle Ranch of KPA Unit 580. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and First Vice Department Director of the WPK Central Committee Ri Yong Chol.

April 12, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected a sub-unit of KPA unit 980. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first deputy department director of its Central Committee.

April 13, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, inspected a sub-unit of KPA unit 156. Kim was accompanied by Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first deputy department director of its Central Committee.

April 14, 2004: Leader Kim Jong Il sent educational aid fund and stipends amounting to 210,800,000 yen for the development of democratic national education of Chongryon (General Association of Korean Residents in Japan). (Kim not necessarily present).

April 15, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, enjoyed a performance given by the art squad of KPA Unit 324. Also present were KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong, Ri Yong Chol, first vice department director of the Central Committee of the WPK, and servicepersons.

April 15, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, watched the training of KPA Unit 324. Kim was accompanied by Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of its Central Committee.

April 16, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected unit 344 of the KPA air force. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong, Col. General O Kum Chol, commander of the KPA air force, and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first deputy department director of its Central Committee

April 17, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, enjoyed a performance given by the Song and Dance Ensemble of the KPA Air Force Command. Also present were KPA Vice Marshal Kim Yong Chun, member of the NDC of the DPRK and chief of the KPA General Staff, KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong, Colonel General O Kum Chol, and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice-department director of its Central Committee.

April 19-21, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, paid an unofficial visit to the People's Republic of China at the invitation of Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and president of the People's Republic of China. Kim was accompanied by Chief of KPA General Staff Kim Yong Chun who is member of the DPRK National Defence Commission, Pak Pong Ju, premier of the DPRK Cabinet, Yon Hyong Muk, vice-chairman of the NDC of the DPRK, and Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs. Kim met with Hu Jintao in Beijing on April 19. Also present at the meeting were Zeng Qinghong, vice-president of the PRC who is member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the C.C., CPC, Wang Gang, alternate member of the Political Bureau of the C.C., CPC and member of the Secretariat of its Central Committee, Tang Jiaxuan, member of the State Council, Wang Jiarui, head of the International Liaison Department of the C.C., CPC and Dai Bingguo, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, from the Chinese side. During his visit to China, Kim also met with Jiang Zemin, chairman of the Central Military Commission of the CPC and chairman of the Central Military Commission of the PRC, Wu Bangguo, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the C.C., CPC and chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Wen Jiabao, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the C.C., CPC and premier of the State Council, Jia Qinglin, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the C.C., CPC and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Zeng Qinghong, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the C.C., CPC and vice-president of the PRC.

May 8, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected a company of KPA Unit 833.

May 15, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, together with KPA servicepersons saw a performance given by art groups of families of officers of KPA units 630, 604, 233, 966 and 337 and the Air Force Command who participated in the 7th contest among art groups of families of KPA officers. Also present in the audience were Kim Yong Chun, chief of the KPA General Staff, KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae, Pak Jae Gyong, Col. General O Kum Chol and other general officers, Ri Yong Chol, first vice-department director of the WPK Central Committee, and Ri Jae Il, first vice-director of the Information and Agitation Department of the WPK Central Committee.

May 17, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, gave field-guidance to the Rakwon Machine Complex. Kim was accompanied by First Vice Department Director Ju Kyu Chang and Vice Department Director Mun Myong On of the Central Committee of the WPK.

May 22, 2004: Kim Jong Il, chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, met with Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi on a visit to the DPRK. Also present were Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, from the DPRK side and Masaaki Yamazaki, deputy chief Cabinet secretary, Koro Bessho, chief secretary to the prime minister, Hitoshi Tanaka, deputy minister for Foreign Affairs, Mitoji Yabunaka, chief of the Asia and Oceania Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other suite members from the Japanese side.

June 1, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, gave field guidance to the Kusong Machine Tool Plant. Kim was accompanied by Pak Pong Ju, premier of the Cabinet, Kim Yong Chun, chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army, Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, Pak Nam Gi, Ju Kyu Chang, KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and Kim Phyong Hae, chief secretary of the North Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK.

June 3, 3004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, gave field guidance to the Chongchongang Machinery Plant.

June 9, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, inspected KPA unit No. 952 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led 7th Regiment. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong.

June 10, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected KPA unit 769 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led 7th Regiment. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong.

June 11, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, appreciated a performance by the visiting State Academy Ensemble of the Ministry of Interior of Russia. Also present were Kim Yong Chun, chief of the General Staff of the KPA, Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, and general officers of the KPA and Andrei Karlov, Russian ambassador to the DPRK, and staff members of the embassy. Kim also met with Viktor Eliseyev, head and chief conductor of the Ensemble.

June 12, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected KPA unit 573 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led 7th Regiment. Kim spared time to see an art performance given by servicepersons of a company of the unit. He was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong.

June 19, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, enjoyed a performance given by the Wangjaesan Light Music Band. Also present were Kim Yong Chun, chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, and other senior officials of the Party and the army.

June 22, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, inspected the large combined unit of the KPA stationed in the western sector of the front. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong. Kim and his entourage enjoyed a performance given by art squad of the large combined unit at the servicepersons' hall together with officers and men of the unit and had a photo session with servicepersons of the unit.

June 25, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, provided on-the-spot guidance to the work to develop folk food while attending the folk food exhibition sponsored by the Korean Dish Association. Kim was accompanied by Choe Thae Bok, Kim Kuk Thae, Jong Ha Chol and Kim Ki Nam, secretaries of the Central Committee of the WPK, and senior officials of the Party and the army and officials concerned.

July 2, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, received Elena Scherbakova, head of the visiting State Academic Moiseyev Folk Dance Company of Russia. Also present was Andrei Karlov, Russian ambassador e.p. to the DPRK. Ki also enjoyed an art performance given by the Folk Dance Company, where he was joined by Jong Ha Chol and Kim Ki Nam, secretaries of the Central Committee of the WPK.

July 5, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK received Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Viktorovich Lavrov. Present were First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Sok Ju and Russian Ambassador e.p. to the DPRK Andrei Gennadievich Karlov.

July 8, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission visited the Kumsusan Memorial Palace at 00:00 on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the demise of president Kim Il Sung, father of socialist Korea and the nation. Also present were Jo Myong Rok, director of the General Political Department of the KPA, Kim Yong Chun, chief of the General Staff of the KPA, Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, Vice-Marshal of the KPA Ri Yong Mu, vice-chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, Marshal of the KPA Ri Ul Sol, Vice-Marshals of the KPA Paek Hak Rim, Kim Ik Hyon, Ri Jong San, Kim Ryong Yon, Jang Song U, Ri Ha Il, Pak Ki So and Jon Jae Son and operation commanding officers of the Supreme Command of the KPA, commanders of the arms and services of the KPA and general officers of the KPA.

July 28, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, visited KPA unit 163 to congratulate servicepersons on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War. Kim also watched an art performance given by servicepersons of a company of the unit.

July 28, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected a company of KPA Unit 851.

July 29, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected a sub-unit of KPA Unit 821 on the frontline. Kim watched the firepower training of servicepersons. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of its Central Committee.

July 30, 2004: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, enjoyed an art performance given by the itinerant youth art troupe of the KPA. Also present were Kim Yong Chun, member of the NDC of the DPRK and chief of the General Staff of the KPA, Kim Kuk Thae and Kim Ki Nam, secretaries of the C.C., WPK, and other senior officials of the Party and the army.

July 31, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, met with Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk at the Jangsuwon State Guest House. Also present in addition to Li, were Wang Jiarui, head of the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee, Ji Bingxuan, permanent vice-director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Sun Jiazheng, minister of Culture, Wu Donghe, Chinese ambassador e.p. to the DPRK, Liu Hongcai, deputy head of the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee, Wu Dawei, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Gao Hucheng, vice-minister of Commerce, and other members of the delegation. On the North Korean side was Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK.

September 13, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, received Sergei Mikhailovich Mironov, chairman of the Federation Council of Russia, on an official goodwill visit to the DPRK. Present on the Russian side were Oleg Nikolayevich Kozhemyako, member of the Federation Council, Bato-Zhargal Zhyambalnimbuyev, vice-chairman of the Control Committee for the Activities of the council, Valery Pavlovich Parfyonov, director of the Secretariat for the Chairman of the council, and other dignitaries and Andrei Gennadievich Karlov, Russian ambassador to the DPRK. On the DPRK side was Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK.

September 17, 2004: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, appreciated a performance given by the visiting Russian Army Academic Song and Dance Ensemble Named after Alexandrov. Kim also received N. V. Burbyga, deputy director of the Education General Bureau of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation who is leading the Russian Army Academic Song and Dance Ensemble, and Leonid Ivanovich Malev, head of the ensemble.
