** Destined to Be? ~ Chapter One **

Hi there! Did you like my little poem in the forewords? You will find that the chapters here at my site are generally longer than when I post them up at winglin or ff.net. This is because I'm trying to shorten my chapters here.. I have reason you believe that you liked the first one to actually continue on to this one? I think that this sequel is much better written than the original fic. Well, here is the sequel... Hope you enjoy!

Shan Cai clutched Lei’s hand tightly as they made their way to VS. What would Dao Ming Si’s reaction be when he saw them together? Maybe she should’ve told him earlier.. A reassuring squeeze from Lei’s hand calmed her down, at least he was here with her. Somehow, Lei made everything alright. She smiled, glancing up at the ‘cool’ look on his face, he was always so calm and composed, no matter what happened. He stood strong when she was weak, he was the one she depended on.

Contentment filled her as she thought about Lei’s love for her. It seemed a dream, a beautiful dream come true. Hadn’t she often dreamt that Lei returned those feelings? The first time she had met him.. she had been swept away by his mysterious aura, his handsome good looks and also after the accident, the gentleness in the way he looked after her.. It was almost too good to be true. Maybe it was all worth it.. she had been stupid to have thought she still loved Dao Ming Si.. Soon as they stood in front of VS, she was dragged back to reality and all the nervousness came back to her..

Lei smiled as he felt Shan Cai’s hand tighten around his, she had a good reason to be nervous.. She looked so cute like that. It was a wonderful feeling, knowing that Shan Cai was finally his. Hua Zhe Lei’s girlfriend, no longer Ah Si’s shadow. Knowing that she truly loved him.. He had longed for this ever since he had fallen in love with her.. When had that been? In Oklahoma? But it didn’t matter…. They were finally together. He guided Shan Cai slowly into VS, all emotions still hidden behind his mask. A skill perfected by many years of practice.

Mei Zuo gaped at Lei and Shan Cai, shocked at the prospect of them being together. Weren’t Shan Cai and Ah Si still a couple only just yesterday? What were Lei and Shan Cai doing together? He sighed, hoping that there would be no problems between F4 like last time. It was surprising how much Shan Cai had affected them – strictly speaking, Lei and Ah Si – but their friendship had wavered for the first time.. He glanced anxiously at Ah Si, afraid of his reaction to this… “unexpected pairing”.

Ximen also was thinking along the same lines as Mei Zuo. After a fleeting glimpse of Ah Si’s expression, he directed his attention back to the couple. “You two..” he pointed to their entwined hands.

Shan Cai blushed and started to let go of Lei’s hand but Lei held her hand tightly. He looked at her and gave her a light smile. What was there to be afraid of? They were girlfriend and boyfriend.. Nothing to be embarrassed of.

Ah Si stared at Shan Cai and Lei. When did they ever get together? But how did he feel? Nothing. He felt nothing. Not a pain in his heart.. nothing? It was surprising, didn’t he love Shan Cai? Even, he surprised himself. He knew that his feelings for her had been rapidly changing.. maybe he only treated her as a friend now? He glanced at them again. Nothing.

He closed his eyes and didn’t say anything. Maybe it was for the best. Shan Cai seemed happier anyway. His thoughts wavered as he started to think of Ye Sha. Where was she anyway? Even later than Lei! He had specifically asked her to come to VS.. Stupid woman! Always so tardy..

If he had been shocked before, it was nothing compared to this. Ximen’s mouth dropped open as he witnessed Ah Si’s reaction to Lei and Shan Cai. If it could be called a reaction at all.. he had simply closed his eyes and said nothing. This was REALLY unlike the Dao Ming Si he knew. Ah Si didn’t sit and brood over things.. that was more like Lei. Ah Si would normally blow up and starting yelling and shouting, generally making a big scene. Now.. he just sat there.

Ximen was starting to think that there was something seriously wrong with him. Was the impact too much for him? He glanced uneasily at Mei Zuo, knowing he was probably thinking the same thing. “Ah Si.. Are you okay?” he asked hesitantly.

Ah Si’s eyes flew open, a slow smile appeared on his face. “Why wouldn’t I be?”

“Umm.. I dunno. Lei and Shan Cai..” Mei Zuo said slowly.

“What? I’m happy for them.”

Ximen was stunned at his reply. He was “happy” for them?! What happened to the old Ah Si.. The one who had lost control when Lei dated Shan Cai last time? The time when he said Lei was no longer part of F4.. Now he was happy for them?!

Xiao You smiled at Shan Cai, she seemed to be happy with Lei. What was the problem then? Looking at Mei Zuo and Ximen frequent exchanges of weird looks, she had no idea what was going on. Dao Ming Si had accepted the fact that Lei and Shan Cai were together.. Sure, he had dated Shan Cai before, but she had noticed that Shan Cai seemed stressed when she was with DMS. So maybe it was better for her to be with Lei.

Xiao You placed her hand on Ximen’s hand, sensing that he was troubled. “What’s wrong?”

“Huh? What?” Ximen turned to face her, “I’m fine.” He smiled at her. Slowly Xiao You felt him relax. Ah Si really seemed okay about the whole thing.. Ximen was dumbfounded. But it was better than having him destroying the whole place.

Lei smiled, happy to have Ah Si’s acceptance and approval. He never thought Ah Si would be “happy” for them. But now he knew. Ah Si liked Ye Sha. Of course, he hid a grin, Ye Sha would be so happy to know. How often had she talked to him about her love for him? Scared of his rejection, jealous of his love for Shan Cai. But now it seemed that the one Ah Si liked was now Ye Sha.

Things were turning out well, there would be no fights or anything over Shan Cai anymore. It seemed the object of Ah Si’s affections had changed.. Dao Ming Feng would be happy about this..

They all started to chat and talk, like nothing had happened. But still, a feeling of unease rested on Ximen.. Suddenly he watched Ah Si’s body tense up, his hands clenching into fists. He almost grinned, his reaction was a bit.. late? Shan Cai and Lei had come in almost 10 minutes ago.

Slowly he turned his head to where Ah Si’s eyes were focused. It was on a dancefloor where a couple were dancing intimately. Nothing unusual.. it had once been him up there with some blonde or brunette.. but Xiao You had changed all that. Then he realised with shock that the girl was Ye Sha! ‘Another shock like this and I’m going to have heart attack..’ he thought amusedly. So that was what Ah Si was angry at, could it be that Ah Si liked Ye Sha? That’s why he was okay about Shan Cai and Lei’s relationship. He gulped as he saw anger light a fire in Ah Si’s eyes, the wild and savage look appeared again

Mei Zuo smiled knowingly. Now, he finally understood why Ah Si had left San Chai like that in the hospital. Why he had gone out with to Ye Sha every morning. There had been something going on, and he had been blind to it! He sighed in apprehension, what was Ah Si going to do? Ye Sha was dancing with some unknown guy like that? No wonder he was mad. He stood up quietly, hoping that Lei and Ximen would be able to ‘control’ Ah Si without making such a big scene. He walked casually over to where Ye Sha was dancing. He flashed the guy a smile, “Hi there. My name’s Mei Zuo.” 

The guy immediately let go of Ye Sha. This was Mei Zuo.. as in F4 Mei Zuo? He gulped, he had had a previous encounter with them – when Ximen had stolen his friend’s girlfriend – it had ended up in a fight.. with him getting a broken arm. He DID NOT want to have a repeat of that ever happening again. Besides, this girl.. Ye Sha.. didn’t mean much to him. If one of F4 wanted her, he was only too happy to oblige to their requests. He slowly walked away, hoping that there wouldn’t be any bad consequences to dancing with Ye Sha.

 Mei Zuo let out a sigh of relief as the guy walked away willingly. There would be no need for another fight. He smiled, though he did enjoy the feeling of punching people – minus the pain of bruised knuckles. But his attention turned back to Ye Sha. “What do you think you were doing?” he hissed. 

“What?” she smiled casually, flicking her hair off her shoulder. “I was only dancing.” She ran a seductive finger down his chest, “Wanna dance?”

 He flashed him one of his famous charming smiles, “As much as I would like to, I don’t want to get beaten to pulp by Ah Si.” 

Ye Sha smiled brightly, “He’s here?”

 “Yeah..” Mei Zuo nodded and grinned, “Is there something between you two..”

 A faint blush appeared on Ye Sha’s cheeks, “I’m not sure..”

 “You like him?”

 “Umm..” she hesitated. The only other person who knew about this was Lei. Was she ready to share it with another. And it was such a direct question! How could she answer to something like that?

 “Ahh.. don’t worry.” Mei Zuo turned serious, “But.. are you seriously looking for trouble? I mean..” he glanced back at a still fuming Ah Si, “he might kill someone like that you know!”

 Her eyes widened, “KILL someone?!”

 “You haven’t seen him before..” he shuddered, “He just goes crazy.”

 Ye Sha smiled, “Does that mean he is jealous? Can it be.. that he likes me?” Happiness washed over her.

 “You’d have to be blind not to see it!” Mei Zuo declared. Of course Ah Si liked Ye Sha, wasn’t it obvious? He turned back to Ye Sha, “so that was your plan? To test his feelings?” Seeing her sheepish smile, he sighed exasperatedly. “Couldn’t you have found a better way to do it?”

 “Oh well, might as well make my plan better then.” She leaned forwards and kissed Mei Zuo lightly on the cheek. Smiling, she waved and left the pub.

 DMS glared as he watched Mei Zuo start conversing with Ye Sha. He was convinced that they were flirting. As she ran the finger down his chest, he almost exploded. How dare they? Ye Sha was HIS! How could she betray him? Anger built up as they continued to talk, the constant smiling and grinning was almost too much to bear. What were they talking about? As he grew more and more desperate. He began to think of the impossible. Had Mei Zuo and Ye Sha been secretly going out together? If not for Ximen and Lei’s efforts to hold him back, he would have gone up to them already. Finally the kiss was too much. The ‘restraints’ were flung back and he stormed up to Mei Zuo.

 Mei Zuo, sensing trouble, turned around. Then a flying fist came towards him and hit him squarely in the cheek. Silently he cursed Ah Si and his explosive temper.. and Ye Sha too. What had he done to get caught in the crossfire of their relationship?

 “What were you doing with Ye Sha?” Ah Si growled.

 “I wasn’t doing anything!” cried Mei Zuo, his hand on his swollen cheek. But he knew.. that there was no use explaining anything, Ah Si was beyond reason now.

 Suddenly San Chai walked up and slapped Ah Si in the face. “Dao Ming Si, you pighead! Are you stupid? This is none of Mei Zuo’s fault. Only your’s!”

 Ah Si stared at her. His fault? How was that possible? Mei Zuo was the one to blame.. the one who had cheated on him. He glared at Mei Zuo, his fist clenched, ready to give another punch.

 San Cai slapped him again. “Wake up! Can’t you see that Ye Sha likes you?”

Ah Si turned and focused his anger on San Chai. How dare she slap him so many times and accuse him of this.. Ye Sha liked him? Then why was she cheating on him with Mei Zuo? He raised his hand. Someone pushed him back. It was Lei.

“Ah Si..” Lei said quietly, but authority showed clearly in his tone. “That’s enough. This has nothing to do with San Chai. She was only trying to help you. Ye Sha has loved you for a long time, she only held back because she thought you were in love with San Chai! All this was to make you jealous! Can’t you see?”

 Mei Zuo sighed, so much for not wanting to create a scene. The slapping and punching was enough to make them the centre of attention. He rubbed his cheek in pain, why did Ah Si always have to be so violent? But Lei’s ‘speech’ seemed to have done some good. Ah Si seemed to calm down, the dangerous light in his eyes was gone.

 “Si.. Are you okay?” Ximen asked.

 Ah Si didn’t reply and walked slowly out of the pub.

Ah Si wandered aimlessly about in the streets. Was Lei saying the truth? Did Ye Sha really love him? But the trouble was.. he didn’t really know if he loved Ye Sha. He had been so sure just a few moments ago – he didn’t want her to be with anyone else. Did that mean he loved her? It was like the rage he had felt when San Chai was with Lei. True, he felt happy when he was with Ye Sha… but was it friendship or love? All this thinking was giving him a headache. He had never been a thinker.. he usually just acted on impulse. He sighed, but when it came to women, he was clueless. He had never really understood San Chai.. let alone Ye Sha.

 Suddenly he felt himself collide with someone. He looked down to see who it was…

 Ye Sha looked up in horror and found herself in the arms of Ah Si. “Ah Si..” she managed to whisper before turning to flee. Why was he here? Wasn’t he supposed to be at the pub?

 “Ye Sha!” he barely had time to recover from shock before he chased after her. He got hold of her arm and stopped her from running. “Ye Sha..”

 “Umm.. Ah Si..” she blushed and looked down.

 He stopped and hesitated. Damn! Why was he always so awkward when it came to girls? Hadn’t he always been able to talk to Ye Sha carefree? He gulped nervously, “Ilikeyou.” He blurted out.

 Ye Sha could barely resist a smile, had it been really what she had heard? Was it just her ears playing tricks on her? “What?” she asked, “What did you say?”

 “I.. er..” Argh! Why was it so hard to say ‘I like you’? He had told San Chai countless times that he loved her.. so why was it different with Ye Sha? “I like you..” he said, his voice barely a whisper.

 “Oh.. you’ve got nothing to say?” she said loudly, “Fine then I’ll just go..” she turned around as if to leave. But she felt Ah Si’s grip on her arm again. “I like you!” he cried.

 She turned and smiled at him. “Really? I thought you’d never..” He suddenly pulled her into his warm embrace, “Ye Sha.. I really really like you. I.. Will you be my girlfriend?”

 Ye Sha couldn’t stop grinning. Finally! He said that he liked her! She hugged him back. “What about San Cai?” she asked softly, voicing out the deepest fear in her heart.

 “San Cai’s with Lei now.. The one I like is you!” he declared. “Do you.. do you like me?” he asked slowly.

 If it was possible, her grin grew wider. He sounded just like a little boy! So cute.. “Of course I like you idiot!”

 “Who are you calling idiot?”

 “You! You have a problem with that?” she said, glaring defiantly at him.

 He grinned and swept her into his hug again. “Of course not.. you are the one I love. I could never be angry at you.”

 She blushed and looked at him shyly. “Love?”

 A faint blush crept up to his cheeks too. Why had he used to word ‘love’? He really should have listened to Zhuang.. she had always told him to think before he said anything.. how true it was.

 “Doesn’t matter!” she cried, laughing, “Because I love you too!” She hugged Ah Si tightly, afraid to let him go. Was this dream? If it was.. she wanted it to last forever. It felt so warm and safe in his arms.. even better than she imagined.
