DMS woke up and looked around. ‘How did I get back here?’ he asked himself.

He moaned in pain, he had a splitting headache. ‘What happened?’

DMS collapsed back into bed and held his head. “GUAN JIA!!!!” he yelled, “COME HERE! BEN SHAO YE NEEDS YOU!!!!”

Almost immediately, he came. “Shao Ye, what do you want?”

“Er.. what time is it?”

“It’s 10:30am.”

“How did I get home?”

“Mei Zuo Shao Ye and Hua Ze Lei Shao Ye brought you here.”

“Oh..” he moaned again, “My head hurts…”

“I’ll get some painkillers for you, shao ye,” and then he rushed out of the room.

Mei Zuo drove along the road in his sports car. ‘Where should I go now? So bored.. No one to go with me to VS. No meimei’s.’ he thought gloomily. ‘Maybe I should go and see Ah Si, see how he’s doing.’

He smiled, glad to have something to do. He turned on the radio and suddenly he spotted a familiar figure. He stopped the car and got out.

“Aisha..”

The girl spun around and smiled. “Mei Zuo!”

Mei Zuo grinned, “Is that really you? Aisha..” he walked up to her, “I’ve missed you so much.”

Aisha and Mei Zuo hugged, “I’m so glad to see you Mei Zuo!”

Then a guy walked up to them, Aisha grinned and pointed to him, “Mei Zuo, I want you to meet my boyfriend, Jay.”

Ye Sha stood in front of the Dao Ming mansion, debating to herself about whether she should go in. She took a deep breath and walked inside the big door. She gasped as she stared around the inside in awe.

“Er.. excuse me xiao jie, who are you?” the butler asked.

She spun around to face him, “I’m Ye Sha. Who are YOU?”

“Oh.. Ye Sha xiao jie? Future mistress? I’m so sorry.” The butler bowed and walked away.

“Eh! Wait! Where’s Ah Si?” Ye Sha called out to him.

“Hmm? Dao Ming Si Shao Ye?” he looked around nervously, “He’s in a bad mood right now. He’s already broken a whole set of new glasses and there are still sounds of glass breaking in his room.” The butler gulped, “He’s done this before and now Dao Ming Zhuang Xiao Jie isn’t here..”

Ye Sha stared at him with his mouth open. Was his temper really that bad? Throwing and breaking things.
She shook her head sadly, this is all my fault. If it weren’t for me, then San Cai wouldn’t have rejected Ah Si and he wouldn’t be like this now.
She walked up the stairs, determined to make things right. She followed the noises of glass breaking until she reached the door of DMS’s bedroom.
'Well.. here it goes!’ she said to herself as she pushed open the door. She stood at the doorway to find the room in a total mess. She gasped in horror, lying on the bed with his hands covered in blood was DMS. “Ah Si..” she whispered.

Ye Sha walked quickly over to DMS and sat down on the bed beside him. Tears flowed down her face, “Ah Si.. don’t do this to yourself. Please.”

Ah Si lifted his head up and shoved her roughly away. “GET AWAY FROM ME! I HATE YOU!”

She stared at him as tears flowed more freely down her cheeks, “I’m sorry.. I’m so so sorry.” She looked down onto the ground, “You can hate me if you want, I know that you only love San Cai.. I’m sorry,” she sobbed, “I’m sorry..”

DMS looked down at her as she cried. He felt as if he should comfort her and hold her in his arms. But no.. ‘The one I love is San Cai!’ he told himself angrily, ‘Not Ye Sha, not any one else.’ He said firmly, trying to reassure himself, ‘But why does my heart feel differently?’

Mei Zuo sat gloomily in VS, drinking another can of beer. Now that he had finally found Aisha, she had a boyfriend. A boyfriend!! Why? Had she forgotten him already? Did he mean anything to her?

‘It could be worse,’ he told himself, ‘She could be engaged, or even worse, married.’ Boyfriend. His eyes narrowed at the thought. That guy was ugly and had no style. What was he compared to him, Mei Zuo? I will win Aisha back, he thought with determination. He drained the can and crushed the can with his fist, ‘I will win..’

Xiao You walked about aimlessly in the streets. She was bored. She didn’t have a job and she had nothing to do. Then her cell phone rang. “Wei? Who is this?”

“Hi, it’s me.”

“Oh.. Ximen.” She grinned happily, finally something to do!

“What? Disappointed that it’s me?”

Xiao You giggled, “Whatever! What do you want?”

“Want to go to VS? all of F4’s going.”

“VS? Ok.”

“I’ll come and pick you up now.”

“Ok, bye.”

“Bye! Love you.”

Mei Zuo sat down and waited for his friends. Ximen had called him earlier to go to VS with him for a drink. Then he saw Ximen walk in with Xiao You hand in hand. “Hey!”

“Hey man!” Ximen grinned as he saw his friend. He sat down next to Mei Zuo. “Where are the others?”

“Dunno. I’ve been waiting HOURS for you guys to come!” shouted Mei Zuo.

A girl walked up to Ximen and sat down beside him, “Hey handsome, haven’t seen you for a while.”

Ximen gulped nervously and glanced at Xiao You. She was glaring at him angrily as she stood up and walked away.

Ximen pushed away the meimei and quickly followed her. He grabbed her hand, “Xiao You, please forgive me.”

“Is this why you wanted to come to VS?”

“No no no… of course not! If it was then I..”

“So you still haven’t changed,” she said in a hurt voice.

“Xiao You.. don’t be like that. I have!” Ximen hugged her from behind. “I’m sorry.”

She smiled, but continued in a fake angry voice, “Get away from me!”

“Xiao You, I..” He walked up in front of her and was surprised to see her grinning.

Xiao You burst out laughing at the sight of his face.

“Hey! You tricked me!” Ximen started to tickle her.

“Stop! Stop!” she giggled, “It’s not my fault. All these pretty girls always come up to you. I get jealous you know.” She pouted.

“It’s just that the girls can’t resist coming up to me! I’m just too handsome you see!”

Xiao You burst out laughing again, “You? Handsome?” She walked away back to where Mei Zuo was now sitting with DMS and Ye Sha.

Mei Zuo looked worriedly at DMS, “He’s at it again. Drinking.”

“I know,” Ye Sha replied, “I’m so worried about him.”

“What’s wrong?” said a quiet voice behind them.

“Wah! Hua Ze Lei! Why do walk without sound? Scared me!” Ye Sha cried.

A faint smile appeared on Lei’s face, “It’s Lei.”

Ye Sha glanced at Lei then looked back at DMS, “He’s still depressed over San Cai.”

Mei Zuo sighed, “Love is so cruel, if only San Cai remembered everything…”

“She has,” said Lei quietly.

“SHE HAS?” shouted Mei Zuo and Ximen incredulously.

“Then why did she still do.. whatever she did to Ah Si? Made him such a wreck again,” commented Mei Zuo.

Ximen nodded in agreement, “My Xiao You would never do that to me!” he said as he hugged her.

“Hey! Who said I was yours?” said Xiao You playfully, “And San Cai’s not like that. She must have had a reason to do reject Dao Ming Si, or whatever she did.”

“I guess..” replied Ximen grimly, “Hey Mei Zuo..” But Mei Zuo wasn’t listening to him, he was staring at something else.

“What’s wrong with him?” questioned Ximen.

Mei Zuo’s eyes were full of anger and his fists were clenched tightly. Ximen looked to see what Mei Zuo was staring at, “Aisha?”
He looked back at Mei Zuo and grinned, “What about our bet? You can’t..”

“WHO CARES ABOUT THE STUPID BET?” yelled Mei Zuo angrily, “You can have the damn car if you want it.”

Ximen stared at his friend, “Ok ok.. no need to get so angry. Go after her if you like her.”

“She has a boyfriend,” Mei Zuo said grimly.

“Well then get her back stupid!”

“I will,” Mei Zuo said as he walked over to where Aisha was sitting with her boyfriend.

“WHO CARES ABOUT THE STUPID BET?” yelled Mei Zuo angrily, “You can have the damn car if you want it.”

Ximen stared at his friend, “Ok ok.. no need to get so angry. Go after her if you like her.”

“She has a boyfriend,” Mei Zuo said grimly.

“Well then get her back stupid!”

“I will,” Mei Zuo said as he walked over to where Aisha was sitting with her boyfriend.

“Hey Aisha!”

“Oh hi!” she turned around to face him. “Do you always come here?”

Mei Zuo smile, a heart-warming smile that normally made girls swoon, “Yeah. I come all the time with my friends. Where are you staying?”

“At maple hotel.”

“You can stay at my house if you want.”

“Oh, ok. Can Jay stay too?”

Mei Zuo grimaced slightly, “Yeah…” he answered somewhat reluctantly, “Whatever.. You have fun with your boyfriend.” He started to walk away.

“Wait! I don’t have your address..” Aisha called after him.

“Oh.. right!” God! I must seem so stupid! He thought, “Er.. pen and paper?”

“No need,” Aisha told him, before giving him a pen, “Write it on my hand.”

Mei Zuo picked up her hand and wrote his address and number. “Here. Want to go now?”

“Ok, sure.” She smiled at him before taking Jay’s hand, “Let’s go.”

Mei Zuo stared at their hands entwined together, jealously burned in his eyes.

Mei Zuo sat down onto his bed. He had just driven them to Maple Hotel to get their luggage, he had stayed behind in the car for what seemed like hours before they returned.

Then Aisha and that.. person had sat in the back and chatted, while he sat in the front driving. He was just like a driver, while they talked animatedly at the back.

He sighed, When will I ever get some time alone with Aisha? She always seems to be with that Jay person. ‘But you’ve only seen her twice today,’ he reasoned with himself. But still.. he didn’t like the idea of Aisha dating someone.. other than him.

He had thought that he didn’t have feelings for her anymore, but now.. he felt a burning jealously in his heart. Him, Mei Zuo was in love.

‘I wonder what they’re doing in their room?’ he wondered. They were sharing the guest room, he could feel anger building up again. He heard some noises from the room.

Mei Zuo stood up, determination written clearly on his face. He took a deep breath and walked over to the guest room.

Mei Zuo stood in front of the guest room door. He could hear bits and pieces of their conversation, but not all. He debated with himself about whether he should try and listen more. But that would be eavesdropping. Is that wrong? No no no, he told himself, it’s ok.

He pressed his ear against the door, straining to hear the faint voices inside.

“Who is that guy?” said a male voice in fluent Japanese.

“Oh.. I met Mei Zuo in Japan before,” he heard Aisha answer.

“He seems to care about you a lot.”

“Oh no.. he’s just a friend.” replied Aisha.

Mei Zuo leaned back. “Just a friend.” Was that all he was to Aisha? Just a friend.. nothing more. So this is what it’s like to love someone.

Aisha, the only girl he had ever fallen for.. was not his. He has always thought he was the best, no one was better than him when it came to girls.

But Aisha was different. The other girls, were just meimeis, nothing more. He didn’t really care about their feelings. But he didn’t want to hurt Aisha, didn’t want to force her.

Why is loving someone so hard? He had spent so many happy times in Japan with Aisha. Did it mean nothing to her? His heart was in pain.

Do you know how much I love you Aisha? I didn’t understand it before. I didn’t know the true meaning of love. And now that I have lost you.. I understand… I know what is true love.. Meimeis, they mean nothing.. Nothing.. only you. Only you Aisha.

He felt a lump in his throat, Aisha.. Do you know the pain I’m feeling? I’m feeling this pain because of you… Have I lost you forever?

Lei sat on the rooftop with his legs dangling off the side. The breeze blew in his face, lifting his fringe off his mysterious eyes. Deep dark pools of brown.

He gazed out at the scenery of Taiwan. He had always come here when he was troubled. It was his place for thinking, his place for peace. He had always come alone ever since he had entered Ying De with his friends, F4. But when it was all too much, he came up here for his peace. The only other person who had come up here was San Cai.

He had always been alone since he was a child. An introvert. Even though he had his friends in F4, it still wasn’t the same. He was always the loner and Jing had come to him. Like the sun in a dark and lonely world. She had seemed the perfect girl. He had always thought that she was the one for him. He had used to be Jing’s Lei. Now as he looked back, it was all just a crush, a hopeless admiration that he had had for her.

He had strayed from other girls, waiting and waiting for Jing to come back to him. Then she had left him, even when he pursued her in France. They had spent so many happy days there, then it stopped. She had to work, no more time for him. Then the marriage, he had left heartbroken back to Taiwan.

Trying hopelessly to look happy, like nothing was wrong. Flirting with girls like Mei Zuo and Ximen. It wasn’t natural for him, but his friends never saw his pain, his sadness. Only San Cai. She had been there for him. ‘I guess that’s when I started loving her.’ Tears rolled down his cheeks, he didn’t cherish her love for him and now it was gone again. He was always Ah Si’s shadow. There when she needed him, but always in the background. Jing was only a crush.. San Cai was love.

Now that he was here in the rooftop again. He remembered the first time he saw her up here. San Cai had run up here, to curse F4. Calling them pigheads. He smiled at the memory, how he had offered her a handkerchief. Then telling her that he didn’t care about other people’s business. How he wished he had not been so cold towards her. But he had been too infatuated with Jing at that time. Then the second time he had come here. Ah Si had sent two guys after San Cai, they had tried to molest her. And he had saved her and taught her to do a handstand in order not to cry. The rooftop had always been his special place, he had been used to being alone.

But now that San Cai was not here with him. It felt strange. He sighed and jumped off the balcony.
How he wished that he had done things differently when she came back. But he knew why he couldn’t. Even the second time, he had always been making excuses for himself. That if San Cai remembered everything then she would love Ah Si again.. Excuses. Excuses. But he knew the real reason. He didn’t have the courage. Now he had lost her again.

Ye Sha once again plucked up her courage and walked into the Dao Ming mansion. The butler greeted her but she took no notice. She was here for a purpose. Lei had said that San Cai had remembered everything, and Ah Si had been there, so he probably heard.

The important thing was.. were they back together again? She had to make sure, it was now or never. If she didn’t ask, she knew that she would regret it forever.

Ye Sha walked slowly up the stairs. Her feet felt heavy as if she was tiring as she took each step. Step, step, step. She felt a big headache. ‘What’s wrong with me?’ she asked herself in surprise. Then she saw Ah Si in front of her. She smiled and tried to walk faster. But then blackness blocked out her vision and she collapsed into a shocked DMS.

Mei Zuo grumbled as he sat at the breakfast table, waiting for Aisha and Jay to come down. He looked at the clock again. 9:30 am. He had been sitting here for 1 hour already, eager to catch a chance alone with Aisha. But they still hadn’t woken up, by the looks of it.

The servants had already cleared to table because the food was getting cold. Some maid had told him that Aisha and Jay hadn’t shared a room, to his relief, but they had adjoining rooms.

He glared angrily at the clock again. 9:40. How long did they expect him to wait for? He stood up in a huff and walked out of the door. “But Shao Ye.. you haven’t eaten yet.” Mei Zuo took no notice and walked towards the staircase that would lead him to Aisha’s room. He was very angry.

Then he saw Aisha walking towards him. Suddenly he felt happy again, no Jay was in sight.

“Good morning Mei Zuo!” she greeted him warmly.

“Aisha!” he said happily, “I..” Then he stopped because at that moment Jay walked up behind and slipped his arms around her waist.

Jealously filled Mei Zuo again. What right did he have? What was so good about this Jay anyway? What did Jay have that he didn’t have? He tried to look away but he couldn’t. He was frozen as he saw Jay plant a light kiss on Aisha’s face. He closed his eyes in frustration.

“I’m sorry,” he heard Aisha say. He opened his eyes to see Aisha smiling happily. His heart softened. “Did you wait a long time? Let’s go to breakfast! I’m so hungry!” said Aisha and she walked to Mei Zuo and grabbed his arm. “Let’s go!”

Mei Zuo grinned, feeling her grip on his arms. But he knew this was only a friendly gesture. It meant nothing. But it wouldn’t stop him from trying. He allowed himself to be dragged along by Aisha into the dining room..

Ximen smiled as he gazed over at Xiao You. It seemed he was the only one in a happy relationship these days. Mei Zuo was all broken up over Aisha, Ah Si was depressed over San Cai and Lei.. well he was probably heartbroken over San Cai as well. All of his best friends were troubled over love. Seems like he was the only one with success. Seeing Mei Zuo so sad about Aisha. He didn’t know whether he should call off the bet. There were only 5 more days to go till the end of the month and the end of the week (how much time DMS has left before he goes to New York).

Ximen grinned as he looked back at Xiao You. She didn’t know that he was there. She still insisted on working in Italian Tomato, she didn’t want to depend on her boyfriend for money. So different to other girls, they only came to him for his money and of course, his handsome good looks, he thought to himself.

Only 10 mins and she would finish working. Then he would surprise her and take her somewhere for another romantic date. He leaned back in his car and dreamed happily away.

DMS rushed into hospital with Ye Sha in his arms. “Someone hurry up and come here!” he shouted.

A doctor rushed immediately to his side, “Dao Ming Si shao ye? What are you doing here? Are you sick?” he asked anxiously. “How may I help you? Do you want me to get someone to..”

“Just shut up!” shouted DMS angrily, “I’m not sick, you stupid person! Can’t you see that Ye Sha is sick? She fainted!! Hurry up and get someone to look at her!”

The doctor nodded, “Oh.. this girl? I’ll go..”

“HURRY UP!”

“Ok ok..” and the doctor rushed off, leaving DMS standing in the middle of the hospital waiting room with Ye Sha in his arms.

DMS looked down at Ye Sha, ‘I wonder what’s wrong with her? Why am I so worried about her? It’s none of my business. I’ve got nothing to do with her. Why do I feel so scared? No no no.. I don’t like her. I love San Cai!’ he muttered to himself.

He slowly lowered his head and kissed Ye Sha on the forehead, ‘I won’t let anything happen to you. You.. you’re my good friend. Yes that’s all.’ He said as he tried to reassure himself.

Then he thought he heard Ye Sha say something, “What? What did you say?” he asked her.

“Ah Si.. Ah Si..” she mumbled.

“Are you awake?” he asked happily.

“Ah Si.. I love you.. Don’t leave me…” she kept on mumbling, without taking notice of DMS’s words.

‘Is she dreaming? She said she loves me?’ he said to himself in shock. He wanted to run away, but he couldn’t leave her behind like this. He was still carrying her. He wanted to run far away from her.
No.. he didn’t love Ye Sha did he? What about San Cai? He looked down once again at Ye Sha’s face. She was so beautiful, and she looked troubled.

DMS hugged her close, “I won’t let anything happen to you.. You’re.. You’re my friend.”

San Cai stood by the window, looking at the meteor lights that DMS had put up for her long ago. She smiled as she remembered fondly how much he had done for her.

Even though she had rejected him countless times, he had still persisted, never given up. She knew that he truly loved her and she loved him. She sighed. Ye Sha had said that he was a wreck now.. What had happened to him? Had she been too cruel? ‘Why are you pushing him away? You love him, don’t you?’ she asked herself.

San Cai smiled as she picked her phone. DMS and her had been through so much. She had no right to deny the past, deny everything that had happened and throw it all away. She dialed DMS’s phone number.

Aisha walked happily with Mei Zuo in the amusement park. But they were not alone. Jay was there again.

“This is so cool! Thanks for bringing us here Mei Zuo!” she said happily.

“Do you want to go on that ride?” Mei Zuo pointed the large rollercoaster beside them. He grinned as he looked at Jay who was beside him. His face was pale as he looked at the ride.

“Um.. that one?” Jay gulped.

Aisha giggled, “Sure! Come on!” she grabbed Jay’s hand.

Mei Zuo stopped her, “I don’t think Jay wants to go on this ride. Let me go with you.”

“Err.. yeah.. I don’t feel very well,” replied Jay.

“Oh.. ok.” Aisha looked disappointed but brightened as she looked back at Mei Zuo, “Well.. lets go!”

“AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!” Aisha screamed loudly as she held onto Mei Zuo’s arms tightly. Her eyes were closed as the rollercoaster plunged down another steep slope.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!”

Mei Zuo grinned as he held onto Aisha’s hand tightly. Finally a chance for him to be with her alone. “Aisha, I love you,” he said as the ride came to a halt.

“What?” Aisha’s eyes snapped open, “What did you say?”

“Oh.. nothing.”

“That was so fun wasn’t it?” she giggled happily.

“Yeah,” he replied. She hadn’t heard him, that was okay. He would say it again later.

“What’s wrong with her, doctor?” DMS said, as he grabbed the doctor’s shirt.

“Err.. nothing. She’s okay. She seems to be fine. She fainted because of fatigue and she hasn’t been eating properly. Lack of nutrients is very unhealthy. You should make sure she eats properly and that she gets enough sleep, at least 8 hours per night,” the doctor replied shakily, “So.. can you.. um..” He pointed at where DMS was still holding onto his shirt.

“You can go now,” DMS dismissed him and released his hold.

He walked into Ye Sha’s room and sat down beside her. He held her hand in his and looked at her now peaceful sleeping face.

Suddenly her eyes snapped open, “Where am I?” she asked frantically. “I..” her eyes rested on DMS, “Ah Si? Why are you here?”

“You fainted, so I brought you to hospital. Why haven’t you been sleeping and eating well? You ben nu ren!” he demanded.

“What? I’m a patient here! You could at least have some manners!” she replied.

“I.” He opened his mouth to argue, but closed it. “I told some people to get some fruit for you. What do you want to eat? I’ll ask someone to get it for you, while you sleep.”

Ye Sha smiled, Ah Si was so caring. “Umm.. I want.. Go and buy me some ice cream and lollies. I feel like eating something sweet.”

“What?! Are you stupid? You’re sick! You can’t eat stuff like that!” he shoved an apple in her mouth, “Eat this, stupid woman!”

“Eh! Is this how you treat a sick person? So rough!” she took the apple out of her mouth. “I..”

Suddenly DMS’s cell phone rang. “Er.. excuse me.” He said awkwardly to Ye Sha.

She smiled at him, “Finally! Some manners!”

He gave her an angry glare. But it failed to intimidate her, instead she stuck her tongue back out at him. “Go and answer the phone, pig head!” she said, as she laughed.

“Hello?”

“Oh.. Dao Ming Si? It’s me, San Cai.” Her voice came through on the phone.

“What do you want?”

“Umm.. can you meet me in the park in half an hour?”

“Yeah..” Ah Si glanced back into Ye Sha’s room, where she was happily munching on the happily on the apple. “Yeah.. whatever..” he said as he ended the call.

‘Why am I not happy? San Cai finally called, she said she had something to say to me. I should be over the moon, but I’m not..’ he thought, ‘Is it because my feelings for her have changed.’ He looked back at Ye Sha still eating the apple and he smiled. ‘Do I love Ye Sha now?’

Ye Sha sighed happily as she walked out of her room and out of the hospital. She had felt so happy when she was talking to Ah Si. He wasn’t angry at her and it was just like before. She smiled as she remembered when Ah Si had “given” her the apple and how sweet it seemed when she ate it.

But after the phone call, he seemed to be wistful and not quite there. He had helped her get ready to be discharged then left without really saying goodbye.

‘Pighead Si’, she thought, ‘I wonder what happened, why did he have to leave? Could it be possible that he might like me at all? No..’ she sighed. ‘He only has San Cai in his heart,’ she told herself, ‘But it might change.. yes, it might.’

She smiled as she walked unknowingly back into the park where she had originally left Ah Si. She sighed as she looked around, she had been so sad and heartbroken. Then Lei had come and brought her peace with his quietness. She did a handstand against the tree even though she wasn’t sad. In fact, she was very happy. Ah Si finally seemed to like her, or at least, he didn’t mind her company. Even when she argued with him, it seemed perfect.

San Cai sat down and looked around the park, searching for some sign of DMS. He normally wasn’t late when it came to meeting her.

She looked impatiently at her watch again. He was 10 mins late. ‘Perhaps he’s not coming..’ she thought sadly to herself, ‘Oh no! What if something happened to him? What if he had some sort of accident? What if?’

“Have you been waiting long?”

San Cai immediately turned her head and found DMS standing behind her. She smiled, happy that he was okay. “Why do you walk without sound? Turned into another Lei!”

DMS forced a smile onto his face, “You were the one who was fa dai.” Somehow, he didn’t feel overjoyed at seeing her as he thought he would.
In his dreams, he had often dreamt that San Cai would call him, they would make up and it would be perfect. But now that it was really happening, he didn’t feel so happy. Part of him was glad, but the other part.. he wasn’t so sure what he was feeling.
He looked at San Cai’s smiling face and all the doubts he had had were forgotten. He grinned, genuine happiness this time, “Did you wait long? I’m sorry.”

“Oh no! It’s ok!” she replied.

“So what did you call me for?” he asked her quietly. It seemed awkward to be with her, yet pleasant at the same time.
‘What the hell is wrong with you?’ he asked himself angrily, ‘You love San Cai! You should be happy!’

“Um.. I..” San Cai hesitated, this wasn’t the reaction she was expecting at all. She had expected him to be very happy that she had called him. She expected a warm welcome and at least a hug, but there was none.
Instead he seemed to be thinking about something else the whole time.
“I.. Why don’t we go somewhere for coffee or something?”

“Can you just say it now? I need to go somewhere.” DMS said loudly. He surprised himself at what he was saying. Why was he speaking like this? The words had just come out of his mouth. Why hadn’t he accepted the proposal to go for a drink?
Before he had been trying so hard to make San Cai remember him and everything that happened between them, and now that his goal had been reached..
‘What’s wrong with me?’ he asked himself again. “Er.. sorry,” he apologized as he realized that San Cai was staring at him.

San Cai was surprised. Why did he seem so angry? Could it be that he didn’t love her anymore? She felt a tinge of sadness, she had always taken his love for granted. Always thinking that no matter what she did, he would always love her.
Her security blanket, if something happened, he would always be there for her to fall back on. Had it changed?
“I..” she cleared her throat, “I wanted to tell you that I remember everything now.”

“I know.”

“You know?” she asked incredulously. How could he have known? This was all different.. it was all wrong. What she had imagined would happen was not happening now.
She had thought that they would embrace, make up. Then they would go for a drink or something and everything would be good and happy. But now..
“How did you know?” she questioned.

“Lei told me.”

Lei.. So Lei had told him. Inside she felt painful, DMS didn’t seem to love her anymore.

“So.. I’ve decided to be your girlfriend again. I’m sorry that I rejected you before. I didn’t mean to make you so sad. I heard that you were drinking and stuff.. I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you before. I was just confused. Now I remember everything and..” she faltered, “I’ve decided to be your girlfriend again.” She held her breath, waiting for his answer.

He looked shocked and he didn’t reply. San Cai looked earnestly at him, hoping he would show some sign of happiness, appreciation, anything.

Suddenly he grabbed her and pulled her into a tight hug. She was surprised but she hugged him tightly back. Finally, they were back together again. After everything, her face broke into a grin.

Unknown to them, two hearts were breaking as the scene unfolded.
